I hadn't used my gypsy in a while and so I decided to update it.It froze up. The screen just said uploading and the computer said it stopped responding. I have since gotten it back but now have lost all my cartridges. What do I do? I bought this gypsy from someone with the cartridges already on it. I tried to reload them from my computer and it says it restores everything but there are still no cartridges. THIS IS AGGRAVATING!!Angry I had 106 cartridges on there and now none.

I don't have a gypsy but I had read on them when I was thinking of purchasing one. You have to have the cartridges in order to load them onto the gypsy again. If you purchased the machine with the cartridges already on there then they are lost because the person who sold it to you owns the cartridges. This protects the company from someone buying a cartridge and then selling a "copy" of it to everyone.

Sorry for the bad news,

Michelle

Sad, but that is exactly why they say not to purchase a Gypsy already loaded with the carts because now you don't have them but the other person does.

Sorry that happened to you. I lost all my cartridges twice after updating, thankfully I also owned the cartridges so each time it took me a couple of hours to add them all again. Then the Gypsy died for good (the connection between the Gypsy and the Cricut stopped working). Now I'm just waiting for a fix to unlink all the carts from my dead Gypsy so I can use them in CCR.

That's why I wondered why someone would pay $300-$400 for a loaded Gypsy on eBay without the Carts.... yikes!

Because people who are paying those outrageous amounts don't understand that if anything should happen to that Gypsy, all is lost. Without the physical cart, they can't do anything with the Gypsy.

AND, the people who are selling loaded Gypsies for those outrageous amounts aren't bothering to educate their consumer. Just pocketing lots of dollars. Cursing

My heart goes out to you! Something similar happened to me with my gypsy. I did a restore, and the carts magically reappeared so I did not need to relink. Sounds like that is not the norm, but if you have not yet tried a restore, you could try that. I guess you would have nothing to lose since you lost the carts anyway.

And it's a lesson not to do an update if you have purchased a gypsy with loaded carts.

Mary
