Hello Everyone!
This is the place for weekly sketches and to inspire you to get your mojo going and create all those awesome card-making ideas swirling around in our heads. You can do them all or just the ones that inspire you. All we ask is that you post your creations on here and share them with us. But most of all, HAVE FUN!!

We will be doing a different form of cards this week. Some of you may be familiar with them, they are called CAS Cards. The acronym CAS stands for Clean and Simple.

This is what the card consists of:
1. Usually only one layer but can include a simple layer or two.
2. A lot of open space sometimes called "white space" can include subtle color, texture or pattern.
4. Usually no embellishments but can include something minimal. (1 or 2 embellishments)
3. Only one focal point. Embellishments should only support not dominate your card.
(Exception to this rule is that you've made the focal point an embellishment and not an image.)
5. Minimal color palette. (up to 3 colors in general)
6. Simple, uncluttered, quick and easy to create.

Here are the Sketches:

#1

#2

#3

Extra Credit
This is a different size card than we normally make. It will fit in a #10 business envelope. In order to fit, please make your card 4" X 9". You can make this a CAS card or embellish to your hearts content, the choice is yours!

Looking forward to everyone's creations!Smile

Hello everyone! Sad to say, but still no Internet at the new place. They have us scheduled for mid April and hopefully they go through with the setup

I'm on borrowed time here (using someone else's service) so I can't stay long

Thanks to all the hosts that have been keeping this challenge going. Thanks to Dee for all the colors. Thanks to all of you that have continued to participate.

I apologize I haven't seen much creation from anyone due to lack of service. I do STILL have Internet on my phone but the connection is so poor at this new location that I get timed out when trying to connect or get that stupid "404 error"

Thanks again everyone! Keep up the awesome creations and hopefully, I'll be back to start making some

Miss you guys!

Thanks for hosting Josie, great sketches. I like the CAS style but sometimes it is hard to lay off those embellishments so that will be a challenge in itselfBigGrin

De thanks for the great Spring colors and one of my favorite combinations.

Again thanks for hosting.

#1 very nice and simple, boy if you would have added a touch of green you would have the ad colors on there alsoBigGrin

#2 love it, great background paper, love the way you embossed the tag. Nice wedding card

#3 this one is beautiful, perfect embossing to match that cut. Looks so pretty cut from the gold paper.

Extra Credit - cute cute cute, love that little deer cut and the nice woodsy colors you used to go along with the theme.

Back in a few to post one of my cards

Turtlebug....I think you can read my mind!!! I've been wanting to try some "simple" cards. I tend to think "more is better," but in reality we know that isn't true! With that said.....I'm posting my "white on white" card that I started for last week and just finished. Simple it's not! I cut a lot of Spellinder Dies and just kept stacking them on each other. My original idea was to make a Sympathy card but I needed a wedding card for close friend who is getting married next month, so I opted to make it a wedding card. The hearts are from an old Cuttlebug Die I had. The reason I have so many Spellbinder Dies is that I ran into them one time reduced to $2.99 at Joanns and bought quite a few that I normally wouldn't have bought. It should happen again!!!!

Dee

OK....I'm having trouble posting the card. Those of you whom use Photobucket.....how do you get the correct link in now? Can someone walk me through it?

Thanks.

Turtlebug.....guess what I ordered? Yep, the Chicken Wire folder. It turned up on Joanns online and they had free shipping on Easter. I'm so glad!!!!!

Your sketches are great as are your examples. #1 with the butterflies is very nicer. Is "love" in a deeper pink? On #2, I like the paper you used and the colors. I also like how the paper shows through the ribbon. Perfect card for the #3 sketch. The leaves work perfect with the embossing folder. Nice EC card. This size is an interesting change.

Rachel....sorry to hear that you don't have internet service yet. Hang in there. If you ever go to McDonalds or Wendys, they ususally have it. I can't wait to see photos of the house and your new craft room.

I didn't get to make a lot of comments last week, but all the cards were very nice. Wellcome back Sunnieday and Connie.

TurtleBug, thanks for hosting! This really is a challenge this time because making CAS cards have been probably one of the hardest things for me to do! Nice set of sketches! Nice touch with the bling on your first card! I love that rose paper you used on your second card! Very pretty! Great idea to used the leaf embossing, and then put a leaf on your top piece on the third sketch! Good thinking, and great layout! Ok, the dear card is just to cute!

DeeScraps, love the colors this week! wow, what a steal on Spellbinders! Oh my gosh, your card is gorgeous! That is a WOW card my friend!

BingoLady, your sketch 4 card is quite lovely! i love everything about it!

Donna, I love those medal brads you used on your sketch 1 card! Where did you get them from?!?! Perfect ad color card! I knew I would like these colors together!

Cindy,
Can't wait to see what you have created for us this week...glad to see you back!

BingoLady
Extra Credit - WOW!!Love this card, the pretty printed blue paper and the delicate flower with the center gem...you outdid yourself on this one!
The Extra Credit is 4" x 9", and yes make another, but in the same Extra Credit sketch, okay?

DeeScraps
Hip, Hip ,Hooray!!!!...Congrats you finally have the Chicken Wire folder.....now get to work with it on these sketches, can't wait to see how you use it!Smile Smile Laugh
Last week:
White-on-White - It was truly worth the wait on this one. It is such a pretty Wedding card to give someone, instead of the other reason. It has so much detail and the tag/sentiment makes it look so elegant.

NanaDonna
#1 - Love the BG paper with the embossing and the metal Brads add a very nice touch.
#2 - Have been seeing this CB embossing folder on a few cards lately and I'm really liking it...there you go, enabling me AGAIN!LOL So pretty with the Ad Colors, love the lacy border and simple flower stamp. Very nice!

Dee,

Yes, the "LOVE" is a very pretty rose color, sort of pink with a little mauve thrown in. Before I posted it I had just scanned it to post and the "LOVE" looked real red and the butterflies were the same pink color. So I used my camera instead and picked it up from Photobucket to post. This way the color did show more true to it's Rose color.
Thanks for askingSmile

Hi everyone! I'm still on borrowed Internet hah hah!

Beautiful cards so far!

Love the extra credit of a long card, we don't see that too often

Ok guys... I know I've been gone for a while and I'm not sure when I can participate again. I said I'll continue to maintain this challenge but in order for me to do so, I need willing hosts. For personal reasons, I need to be gone from this challenge a bit longer so please volunteer to host if you are comfortable to do so. I'm going to leave it up to you guys to figure out who wants to host when. I can't keep borrowing my SIL's computer

Take care and keep creating!

Ok logging in from my phone... service is slow right now and the keyboard is so tiny ... so inconvenient! Hee heee! But, I don't want to impose on my SIL's Internet anymore

Turtlebug: thanks for hosting and with simple sketches... love love those! Great extra credit too! Awesome sample cards, very pretty colors and papers. I really like the one with the embossed leaves

cstanzione: welcome back! It's great to see you. I hope you made lots of money selling all those beautiful creations!

BingoLady: pretty white and aqua card... very pretty trims and flower

*NanaDonna*: HAH! I have those same exact brads you used. One of the first things I ever got from Close to My Heart. Love the simplicity of the card you used the brads on and great Ad color card... very sweet

DeeScraps: thanks for the Ad colors... very pretty choice as always. Beautiful card! Love all the dimensions and textures to it

I hope I didn't miss anyone... I'll be back sometime after this weekend. I'm almost done hanging up curtain rods / curtains. 9 more to go!

I had to do a card with daisies on it so I choose to do sketch 3 so sorry it isn't CAS. That is what happens when you do more then one challenge.

Here is my sketch #3 Not so CAS but I am still please with how it came out.
I have always wanted to make a card and stamp an image on it without coloring it in
and when I say this sketch I know it was perfect to do that with.

The only Cricut is the Happy Birthday and that is from MS Birthday Cakes
