So now, Barb, I'm curious to see if you waiver on blue...

Blushing Well, I must admit that I will "waiver on blue" when it is for PATRIOTIC stuff and combined with red and white...I also will use SKY BLUE for the SKY or an OCEAN BLUE for water of course. Other than that, I do not want blue for any decorating purposes in my home, nor will I wear blue clothing except for one old pair of jeans that I wear when I clean house or work in the yard. I have no blue in my closet. It does not look good on me at all. Flapper But, when I make a card for a Veteran it is going to be RWB combo usually, or anything for July 4th parties...naturally. If a partner sends me blue items it will most likely be "re-gifted" to someone else unless I need it to make something for a swap !

I am working today so I will be back later with the questions...I just had a break so thought I would answer your query Wub

Running list of Questions that will need to be answered by each participant:
~ I have to figure out how to look at this enormously long list of things and also type into this posting...I may not get this completely done for a couple of days ! Flapper

1. Please list some of the above themes that interest you most.

Under the Sea
Family Reunion
I'm Seeing Stars
Christmas in July
Patriotic
SUMMER TIME MUDPIES (think grunge)
SNAP, CRACKLE, POP –

2. Or, in the alternative, please list any themes that you would not find useful or enjoyable to receive in your swap box.
Baseball
South of the Border

3. Please list some ideas from the purchase and project categories that interest you most to receive in your swap box.

• BLING
• STAMP
• INK PAD OR RELATED PRODUCT
• TIM HOLTZ PRODUCT
• METAL DIES
• FLOWERS
• RIBBON, LACE OR TWINES
• RED, WHITE & BLUE BASKET OR CONTAINER

4. Or, in the alternative, please list any product or project that you already have enough of or would never use, etc.

Glimmer mist
Paper pads
Would not really use a banner -

I am good at finding a useful purpose for most anything ! However I do not need any picture frames. Any of the projects you make will be fine with me.

5. Is there a certain shade of red, white, blue you prefer?
I like primary color R/W/B on things for the 4th of July...otherwise I only use blues on things that have to do with the sky or water themes...
I like muted colors and antiques or antiqued-looking designs - not necessarily pastels.

6. Is there a color you do not like? BLUE for the most part - not my fave and certainly not in any of my home decor items or my clothing... So if you make me something with an American Flag motif that is perfectly fine as long as it is for purposes of a Patriotic occasion. Otherwise, I prefer earth tones.

Gwynne -- Awesome swap, I want to sign up. Got a new computer and I don't have to worry about losing emails or email locking up. I even learned a good way to check in so I am ready to roll for the next round of swaps. Thanks,

Hi Ali! Was wondering where you've been too!

I'm not going to close until end of week or after. I have a busy weekend, so it may even be Sunday night before I can close.

I'm pretty busy this next few days with my other two swaps closing this week. So you have time to think it thru but heck you should just join!

The DD is far enough away that there will be 9 or 10 weeks...so that allows you time to craft one item each week and really manage your time and this swap easy enough!

Hi,
Browsing through, I would love to join in, looking to try something new in the swap dept, lol! Feeling a bit ill today, but I will be back with questios that I'm sure I'll have about this swap. I do have a baby shower I am doing, but I don't think it should be an issue considering I already have all of the projects laid out and some cut out.

1. Please list some of the above themes that interest you most.

• 4TH OF JULY – IT’S HOT OUTSIDE

• 4TH OF JULY PARADE

• I’M SEEING STARS!

• SUMMER BBQ

• WILD, WILD WEST

2. Or, in the alternative, please list any themes that you would not find useful or enjoyable to receive in your swap box.
• CHRISTMAS IN JULY (still snow on ground here, so really not interested in this one this year Crying )
• LEMONADE STAND - lemon type objects would be fine in conjunction with bbq, but no stands
• BASEBALL BASH
• SOUTH OF THE BORDER FIESTA
• UNDER THE SEA

3. Please list some ideas from the purchase and project categories that interest you most to receive in your swap box.

• BLING
• ADHESIVE - favorites are for pink ATG, scor-tape, and scotch quick dry
• 6X6 OR 8X8 PAPER PAD - I have a weakness for paper Love Love Love especially Bo Bunny
• TIM HOLTZ PRODUCT - fragments and gears are favorites as well as distressed ink pads. Don't care for the distressed stickles or some of the items he has that are missing arms or the stamps with the line drawing stuff. (not sure how to describe).
• FLOWERS - always fun
• RIBBON, LACE OR TWINES - adore ribbons/twines/laces
• SUMMER OR BBQ FOOD PRODUCT REPRESENTING YOUR REGION OF THE COUNTRY - anything that can be grilled
• ANY THEMED 4TH OF JULY CRAFT PRODUCT
• RED, WHITE & BLUE BASKET OR CONTAINER

I love embellishments for pages (Camping, Eagle Scout, Gardening, Animals of all sorts, Leg is out of cast this summer, so I will be riding my horse again!!!!! Maybe today as ice is mostly gone now)
Altered paperclips are always fun
mini albums
chunky charms
layouts (6x6, 8x8 or 12 x 12 -I still have 8.5 x 11 albums too, so any size works)
altered items
anything that can be used for scrapping/creating minis/altering (other than mousetraps) BigGrin
one of my favorites - interactive pages

4. Or, in the alternative, please list any product or project that you already have enough of or would never use, etc.
I don't know much about metal dies, so didn't list above. I have a few sets, but haven't seen the advantage over sizzix original dies yet. I am super picky about stamp pads (prefer Pallete) and have quite a few, so that would be a tough one.

Please NO mousetraps

5. Is there a certain shade of red, white, blue you prefer?
I like brights, but the grunge/vintage ones are nice too.

6. Is there a color you do not like? Neons. I also avoid bright pinks. Grungy pink is fine, but nothing that looks like Barbie Pink please.

I just wanted to bring something to your attention, all

The rule of thumb used to be that hostesses asked you to check in weekly. But this year, some of us have been just asking that you check in at least once every 2 weeks. Just seems more appropriate for a swap such as this one that is in progress for almost 3 months. Plus it will be vacation times and swappers will be stepping away from the MB for 7-10 days on occasion. Not a problem, but it does help if you simply give me heads up before you leave and if you please do your best to make a quick check in once you return from vacation. I worry when I know you should be back from vacation and don't check in for a couple weeks! lol

Also, if you've been watching all the swap threads, then you are aware that we've had a rash of flakers this past couple of weeks. Naturally, it irritates me as a hostess and as a swapper too. This makes me want to be more proactive about trying to stay one step ahead of the flakers. So that is why I highlighted the rule about checking in every 2 weeks and no excuses. It's because of the flakers, not because of anyone currently signed up in this swap. And it's to make the less experienced swappers more aware of the importance of checking in regularly.

I apparently am dealing with 2 flakers this week in another swap and I'm frustrated at myself for giving them so many chances to come through for their partners instead of just removing them from the swap weeks ago when they were ignoring the rule to check in every 10 days.

So I'm just asking everyone to take a minute and understand where we, the hostesses, are coming from when we say that we must be strict about check ins. We just want to keep the swaps fun and free of stress for everyone involved. We truly are not trying to target anyone, but rather educate you all on swapping with respect and honesty and to pick up on the red flags before they show up.

As always, a little communication goes a long ways in these swaps.

Gwynne - totally agree on your communication - it is so frustrating, as a hostess, to not find out about problems until later in the swap. Kind of drives us nuts (same with the saying sent with DC but never able to come up with the number)

Your comments make perfect sense - just helps everything go much smoother. Hint for all participants - definitely do/use the email/alternative contact thing as necessary. Set up now or it won't do you any good when needed. I know I had issues with the board with the last swap and was able to email Gwynne and let her know that stuff was still moving, just not able to log on. Communication is soooo important.

Thanks Lucinda.

I need to go down thru the list and see what addresses I need or alternative email or cell text number.

One thing I've not done is either email or text everyone at the beginning of the swap so that you have my email and number already added into your addy books, contact lists. So that's something I plan on doing starting with this swap.

Now that I've gotten the other 2 swaps past their Due Dates....I'll be ready to concentrate on this swap.

If any of you have a preference on who you'd like to partner up with, please PM me. I'll see what I can do! Or if you've been partnered with someone recently in other swaps, it's okay to let me know that so I don't put you together again so soon.

Everyone that has joined thus far is very active in the swap forum, so I see no issues at all this round! Should be a super creative round and should be a great learning experience for those that are newer to swapping.

I see nothing but smooth sailing ahead! lol (and let's hope I didn't just jinx myself!)
