Well I just saw this. I agree to what everyone else posted. By the way I am allergic to my fur babies. But I am also allergic to dust and grass and I have those so why not my fur babies - lol. Seriously I am fine as I did do allergy shots and now built up immunity.

But I just wanted to "Happy Wife - Happy Life". Can't wait to see kitty pics.

I forgot to put in my long and rambling previous response, thats cats are definitely not just for old ladies. My teenage son (a total jock) and a several of his football buddies all have cats as pets and they all adore them...it's so funny to see these big guys who can pound the crud out of each other on the field, snuggle so sweetly with a little cat. Everybody loves to get a purr!Wub .

If you girls (and guys too) want to get your fix of kitten cuteness, you have to check out this site theittybittykittycommittee.com The folks who run this site foster kittens and they have some outrageously adorable photos of the kittens they've fostered over the years. (As an fyi, I have no connection to the website or that group - I just came across their site and blog one day - and it's precious!)

Wait, what's that sound Nan? Oh, I think it's the sound of the wall crashing down around your husband. He does want a kitten afterall!Woot Yay for you!!!!

I am not a cat person(alergies)but all three of our daughters have cats. They seem to be so much company for them.

Our eldest daughter has had her cat Foster for 21, yes count them, 21 years. That cat has been with her thru a lot of boyfriends and other ups and downs. Jenn is 42 now and just got married for the first time last year. Her Foster is not doing so well now and its like the cat is saying "look, I've stayed with you thru thick and thin, longer than I should have, but you're settled now and happy. Its time for me to go" It is breaking Jennifer's heart. Crying

That cat would snuggle with her when she was crying, and play when Jenn was laughing. I'm not a cat person by any stretch of the imagination, but even I love this cat and can appreciate what it has ment to our daughter to have Foster in her life. I have no idea if all cats are as in tune to their owners as this cat is, but from all the stories I've heard, apparently they are. Who wouldn't want a friend like that? I'm trying to think if I even have had a close friend like that for 21 straight years. I think not!

Good luck to you

At any rate, girls, we almost have him broken to our collective will. I think in a couple of more days we'll be making a trip for a rescue kitten. I read him all the posts in this thread again last night. He's a stubborn one, but who can resist all of us at once? Smile Thanks for vour help and feel free to help more. LOL

I have always been a cat lover, but developed allergies to them (mild so far) about 5-6 years ago. I was so upset because I have always had at least one cat. Now I can't hold them without a mild reaction; I can pet them if I don't pick them up and go wash my hands asap.

I was never a dog person (bitten in the face as a child), until I met a dog who changed me. Now I have 3 Great Danes.

Pets are wonderful, no matter what you get, cat, dog, mouse, snake, etc.....

(Sorry, guys, going to post my babies)

Never feel sorry about posting pics of your babies, Amy! They're so cute!! I certainly hope we never develop allergies to cats. That would be awful!

I too would love to have a kitty in the house.... My hubby says no more cats! Crying

When our daughter moved out 4 years ago she took her kitty with her. Every once in a while we get to have the "grandkitty" for a few days and I love having her here.

I can so empathize with your desire to have a cat. (((HUGS)))

Muffyk your cat is gorgeous!!!! I'd have ten cats (at one time) before I'd get another dog!

I like dogs.. when they are someone else's. Dogs are as much responsibility as a child!! My dog is nearly 14 and driving me nuts. He wants out at least once a night during sleeping hours. Sunday night he was out at 1am, wanted out again at 3:48am, and then again at 5:17am... yes I remember the times! Thinking he had an infection I brought him to the vet. After checking his urine the vet said he's fine...but you do realize he's old. He's just exhibiting another of the signs that we all exhibit as we age.Flapper

I am an animal lover. But I prefer a dog as a pet. Cats are finicky, not very affectionate, and I have been around several cats who are nice one second while you pet them but then turns around and bites the person petting (me)! I call them physco cats. Cats are not good protectors, they usually run and hide when someone knocks at the door. But then again, cats are easy to take care of and can be left alone for days at a time as long as food and water has been sat out for them. But the litter boxes do need constant cleaning or you'll have a stinky house. And make sure its declawed or else your furniture and woodwork (mostly door frames) thru the house will be all scratched up.

I have to add this..You are WOMAN..bat those beautiful eyes and say ..."Honey, I really want a cat. Pleeeeaaaassssseeee??" how could he say no to that?? If that doesn't work..then this is the best ..."IF YOU LOVE ME YOU WILL LET ME GET A CAT", while batting those beautiful eyes at him. Love

Joyce

I have to say I have two cats, one is very affectionate and she follows me around all day but knows when I need my space. My other cat is male and well he likes to be left alone and will hide most days. One day my 2 year old and I were playing and I was yelling "HELP" and here comes my male cat (Cormac) he had this whats going on look and why are you yelling for help. He is affectionate when he wants to be but its on his terms, and when someone new comes for a visit he has to make sure they are safe :)

I didn't grow up with cats and now that I have two of them I can't imagine what it would be like without them. We are allergic to our cats but I combat that by trying to keep up with the cat hair I vacuum at least 3 times a week. and brush both the cats.

The best part about having cats is when you are on vacation you don't have to worry about them make sure they have food, water and a clean box and they are set. Although I have someone come check on them if we are gone too long.

Oh for heaven's sake Mark. Get Nan a cat and be done with it Flapper You have to know you don't really have a choice. Confused Besides, then when it comes to something you really want, well, how will she be able to refuse you? Laugh

My husband and I have been married for 40+ years and I think bribes are what have kept us together all these years. That and separate bathrooms!!

Start thinking of kitty names Love
