How many of you use the Advanced tape gun (ATG) for your projects? What are your opinions of it? I was using the Glue Glider Pro (GGP) until someone on one of my groups mentioned this and so of course I had to buy one. Peer pressure gets me all the time!! I had seen them in Michaels a long time ago but refused to pay $70 for a tape gun that was as big as my head. But they musta made a medium sized one because I got one and I just love it. I got a pink one from amazon.com for $16 and while it did take me a day or so to get use to having to pull the trigger to release the tape, I have fallen in love with it. I breezed thru matting 3 layers (white to yellow to black) onto 30 graduation announcments in no time. Used Varsity Letters cart for the announcement.

I have two. One was my daughters but when she moved out I confiscated it!

MOST of the time I keep acid free in one... Non acid free in the other for card making and such.

I don't use anything else now.

Glad you like yours!

I got mine about a year ago and love it! I was a bit afraid to try it thinking it would be awkward. But it works great. It's about the only thing I use as well.

Your card turned out great. TFS.

Have either of you bought the refill tape rolls from Ebay from Thetapedepot.com store? The guy sells them in bundles of 12 rolls for like $27? I ordered a bundle of them so I'd have a nice supply on hand. Good thing I did too cause making those announcements used almost 2 rolls.

I like mine. I got it sometime last year. I have a hard time squeezing stuff with my fingers, so was not sure I would be able to pull the trigger. But it is pretty easy to pull the trigger on my good days, but I have to use 2 fingers on my not so good days and sometimes not able to pull the trigger at all.

Your card looks great!

Enjoy your new ATG! You'll be whizzing thru projects like a hummingbird. BigGrin

I love my ATG and have had it for some years and now I have to buy another one. When I went to reload mine with tape this past Saturday one of the pieces popped out, it was the casing that sits on top of the spring mechanism. I tried pushing it back in place but its not working so I guess I just need to buy another one. I'll check the prices on amazon since they are a little pricey in Michaels even with a coupon!

I purchased my original tape gun from FramingSupplies(the red one). I also ordered a dozen "gold" tape rolls. When Michael's started carrying them, I used a 50% off coupon/pd. less than $20.00. I used the red one for my acid free tape and the other is loaded with general purpose tape. I buy my refills with coupons from Michael's.

I have the yellow one and the pink one and I love them both. I keep them both loaded with acid-free tape and on the ready at my desk. I get my tape locally or from Blick art supplies, because they have a store in Michigan.

I seriously think it is the one scrapbooking tool I can't ever imagine living without.Love I get my tape at tape depot and have for years. The ATG does have a slight learning curve (learning the pressure, best surface to use, loading the new tapesLaugh ) but it is so worth it!!!! I saw them at JoAnn's yesterday for $30. With a half off coupon it ain't too bad. I really don't know why people still use those little rollers. <3 my ATG!!

I make and sell cards and was going through adhesive so stinking fast it was ridiculous. I broke down and got the ATG and have never regretted it. I now have two...one I have blinged out for my craft table top and one I can throw in a bag to go...

There is someone on this msg board that every once in awhile puts together a group bulk order of tape at a really good rate...details have escaped my brain for the moment but maybe if you post the question someone can tell you who and how much! But her service is great and the price was great too!

Cassie, since you get tape from the tape depot, I wanna ask you if you have problems with the tape almost coming off the wheels when appling the tape? I had a terrible time with it and had to open the gun and reposition the rolls and tape several times when I was using it. I have a couple other frineds who also gets tape from tapedepot but they haven't reported any problems like I have had. But it must be common because someone found a solution to stop it. They say to cut a shim and place it over the taperoll when ya load the gun. I haven't 'fixed' mine yet but I do plan to give it a try and see if it helps.

I will tell you 4 reasons I never bought one before.

1-the price of them was outragious! I couldnt believe people was paying $50-70 for those giant tape guns. And I hadn't even looked at them for several years until just 2 months ago when my friends were sharing their experiences with them.

2- I thought they would be very heavy and awkward to use. I still think the $70 ones would be too big but I just love my pink one. And it's not as awkward to use as I thought it would be.

3-I had stocked up on adhesives several years ago and wasn't needing any for a long time.

4- a friend of mine sent me the GGP with 3 refills for free to use and do a review about it. Can't pass up free! And i will still use that one too because I still have at least 8 refills for it. But I went ahead and bought the ATG anyways. LOL

I really love my pink atg!!! I use it a lot. It took a little bit to get used to because of the size, but after that you can really fly through projects. I usually purchase tape here on the board when they do a tape share. It generally as been about $22 including shipping for 12 rolls.

Joyce can you explain a little better about the shim? My friend has the same problem with her gun, she uses the same tape as I do but I don't have a problem. I would like to tell her about the shim but I am not sure what you mean. Thanks!

Scrap2Do did a tape share just recently. Last I saw, she still had some left that she had purchased. $15 for 12 rolls + $5.95 shipping (for 1 slot).

Here's the link to the discussion.

I got a red one for Christmas one year and it took me another year to learn how to use it, Im a lefty so it took some time, now I love it, got a pink one a M's just because I was in a pink phase. Im always loosing things so its nice to have 2. I do have the glue glider too, I take that to crops, I like that one more but the tape gets expensive for it.

I got my pink ATG about a year ago now and love it. I used all the previously mentioned excuses not to buy one but after going through so much other adhesive and reading rave reviews on it, I bit the bullet. I believe I got mine from Scrapbook.com as it was quite a bit cheaper than M's. Though I do get the refills for it here at M's with a c/o.

We just used some scrap lumber and made it from trial and error. The cut for the handle was made using a paddle bit on an angle and then the front piece was notched to hold the gun and it is also cut on an angle in front. Hope you can see it. Not professional but I love it! I should have sanded it and made it all beautiful but it was just for me, so I didn't bother!

Sorry I didn't see this earlier...

I THINK I got mine from framingsupplies.... But it has been a while since I ordered so I am not sure. I have had an issue or two when I have gotten the feeder section off wrong which caused the tape to be on backwards.... Sort of.
