Good morning all!! I've tried to update a couple times, but I move my mouse around and half the message disappears, so hoping today that it all stays where it is supposed to!!

We went camping on the weekend and this week is vacation Bible school, so this week has been a lot of running around and trying to stay caught up in the garden. Will be canning soon I hope!! Froze a little broccoli Tues. and just trying to keep up with the weeds!!

We will be gone on the mandatory checkin day also. I will have my phone, but I am not good at typing on it yet, but I can try a "JCI" maybe!! We are going to a ski resort to camp and two of my kids and I will run a 5K at a zoo - how cool is that??

Well, I should read over my lesson and start waking up the kids - hate doing that!!

Have a good day everyone!!

Hi, All~

I actually wrote this last night, but had trouble posting (didn't put the secret letters in before hitting enter!) so here's another try!

Checking in to say, 'Hi' and hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I'm just settling into a nice routine after retiring a month ago. Every day is a holiday..

On August 10, our oldest daughter is (finally) graduating from Univ of Fla in Business. It took her awhile, but she did it and we're proud of her. We're looking forward to the ceremonies in Gainesville.

We're also planning our summer trip to Boston to visit our youngest daughter and her family. My granddaughters are 4 and 2 and growing like weeds! Time for a Grammy visit..this time, my husband and I are taking our new dachsund puppy with us. Should be an interesting trip..

Special hello to my partner, Miss Stamper! BigGrin The Fall shoebox is decorated and filling fast!

~Nikki

JCI- Not much progress, haven't found the funk *yet*. Once the short and sweet is over I'll be much relieved and can concentrate on this and the ATC swap. I have decided to stick to these type of swaps from now on. The altered items are just too stressful for meScared

I think after this one I am going to cut down on swaps. I love doing them, but I sign up for so many that postage to send them out is ridiculous. I need to get back to my first love, which is card making. I have been trying to concentrate on this, but life is overwhelming right now. It will be completed and on time, have no fear.

I got the last item made for my partner's shoebox. Now, I just have to decorate and wrap it! I am so excited to send this out. It is sooo hard to wait...lol! I have had a lot of fun finding and making items. I think I have a good mix, and would definitely be happy to receive such a box. I hope you think the same when you receive it, ScrapyPiggy!

Hope you all have a great week. I will be mulching another set of flower beds, and setting up the pond and fountain I managed to get cleaned out. It has three sections to it. I have them set into an artificial hill my hubby and I created in the back corner of our yard several years ago. We just kept dumping our yard waste in that corner, until we had a large enough hill, then dumped some topsoil on top. I found the pond shell at a yard sale...paid $15 for it, and it is a nice size. There are two sections that are meant to look like a stream bed, that then dump into the pond itself. It looks like the stream comes out of the hill like a spring, runs down the two pieces of the stream bed, and into the pond. I have a small fountain to put in the pond as well, to keep the water moving to help control the mosquitoes. A pump runs water from the pond up the hill and in to the stream bed through a small hose that I have camouflaged under rocks and mulch. I have to pick up a couple more bags of rocks to blend the black plastic edges of the stream bed pieces into the hillside and put in the bottom of the pond to make every thing look more natural. I already have several medium and large flat stones to go around the edge of the pond so you won't see it. I am trying to figure out what to do with the electric cord that runs the pump and fountain. I think I will put it inside some PVC piping and hide it under the mulch in the flower beds as well. I am hoping to get this done this week, as we are having our Tae Kwon Do class over for an outdoor practice and potluck on Saturday, so wish me luck! My guys have band camp and cross country training this week, and I have more doctor appointments, so we are going to be really busy, but it will also be fun, except for the doctors! Take care everyone. Blessings, GG.

Between the altered item, ATC and this swap I keep forgetting where I am at on each in my craft room. I have things all over the place.

I think I need to cut back on my swaps also because the altered item is overloading my brain and creativeness and I am having issue trying to figure out what I need to do for the ATC and this swap.Tongue

Godit's Girl I am sure I will enjoy the box completely. I have been collecting items all over, even have some items coming from one of my brothers in Nebraska.

Barb, a question.....one of the items is too big to fit in the altered box with everything else, although it will fit in the shipping box, is it OK to wrap it separately?

JCI....We are at my in-laws this weekend, and having a great time....left yesterday, after lunch. They live on a farm in southeastern OH. The boys and I are going "rock picking" today to get the rocks I need to put around my pond and stream bed. I am trying to make it look as natural as possible, so want to camouflage the black plastic edges. I also want to finish trimming the new flower beds I made with rocks, so we are planning on bringing back 30 or so good sized rocks. i like to find ones with several colors in them, or with moss growing on them. There are also a lot of blue rocks on the farm, so I want those....they are really pretty lining the beds. My FIL said I could have all the rocks I wanted. He thinks it is funny. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. What are you up to? Blessings, GG.

My sister and I learned a new technique(well new to us), and Laura...congratulations, you are my first guinea pig...so to speak.

Denise....

aside from waiting for a few things to be delivered this week for this swap, I will be feverishly crafting my heart out. I guess procrastinating worked, because it gave me time to really think outside the box(hopefully) and make this a fun swap box for my partner.

As far as I can tell - the following people have not checked in yet this weekend -
Here is the length of time since their last post -

ScrapyPigy - 5 days ( not too bad )

Ctibbmn - 10 days ( on the edge of the cliff Flapper )

DoxMom - 9 days ( teetering Razz )

Laverne - 23 days (OhMyGod !!!! ) I am not too concerned as I think Evelyn & you have been communicating in PMs...but please post something here as well.

Well ladies, we are now entering the phase of this swap where everyone SHOULD be well into filling their boxes !! ThumpUp I hear that some of you are virtually finished which is so great !

I still would like everyone to hold off on mailing them out until August 30th , which is a Friday before Labor Day. So we can all be opening them during that following week and posting pictures ~

Have a fun & Crafty week ladies ! You all are a great group to work with ! THANKS !

Oh by the way , if KM continues to lurk around here I think we should require her to make up a box for everybody and send them out ! LOL Razz Woot

Carol K. checking in...apologies for not checking in more frequently. Lot's yet to collect plus want to make a few things. This is a new kind of swap for me and I don't want my partner to be disappointed!

Spent almost a week on a "Shop Hop" event. If you ever have the opportunity to participate in one of these I would highly recommend it. A local scrapbook shop organizes several scrap and stamping shops (this year there were 39 stores plus 2 bonus stores). The theme was "cooking/
/recipes". The cost was $10.00 and we were given a muslin apron to decorate, a passport-this
included the names, addresses, and hours each shop would be open. All shops provided a photo-op
and for $2.50 a "make-n-take" with a recipe. Most offered a 2nd page for the same price and a
pin for $5.00. In addition they served their recipe and offered a 20% discount. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Madeline and I are now getting ready to go on a 4 day scrapping retreat in the mountains with about 13 other scrappers. So much to do and so little time. Take care all and will chat with you soon.

I'm done! Finished the last item this morning! Now, I just want to add some cuts to the outside of the box, and it will be ready to mail when we are permitted. Yay! GG
