I purchased a limited edition (pink) Cricut Personal from JoAnn late last year and installed the update when I set it up. After installing the update, the Cricut won't do anything. I can't connect to the Craft Room anymore and I can't cut using the buttons on the machine itself. Anyone know how to uninstall the update or reset the Cricut Personal back the original factory settings (i.e. no update installed) so I can start over? Help!!!! Sad

A reset might help:

1-Turn on your machine with no cartridge loaded.
2-Rolls all the grey dials down to lowest setting.
3-Open up the front where the blade housing sits, use the black arms, with the
screw to pull that entire unit along its track over to the other side
Of the machine.
4-Over where that unit usually sits, if you reach back there with your fingers, you’ll
feel a red button sticking out.
Push and hold down that button for 5 seconds, counting to 5 slowly. Then let go.
5-Use the black arms to move that unit back into its place where it usually sits.
6-Next you are going to roll all the grey dials all the way up and all the way down 3 times,
so three times total for EACH dial-doing 3 cycles of each up & down (may do 1 at a time)
7-Now press the CUT button
8-Turn the machine off
9-Let your machine sit for a FULL 45 min to an hour
10-After that full time passes, load a cartridge on, turn on your machine and try a
practice cut of something simple.

If that doesn't help, you can backdate the firmware to 1.34 using the trial version of Cricut Design Studio. You can download that from here: http://mirror.cricut.com/cds/fontpack/CDS_10404220.exe

Once DS is installed go to the Help menu and select Update Cricut Firmware. Make sure you select the Personal as the machine to be updated.

Also, if you are prompted to do the firmware update twice, be sure to power the Personal off before starting the second update.

Hi Narelle,

Do you need to purchase the Design Studio? I downloaded it into my pc but I can only use it on Trial Mode.

I tried resetting my personal cutter like you said but still couldn't update from version 1.31 to Version 1.34.

Thanks!

cheers,
mkozier

Interested to find out if this worked. I just bought a used Cricut Personal only to discover it didn't include any cartridges. The LED screen keeps flashing that I need to insert either Gypsy or DesignStudio. I tried downloading DS online, but it still doesn't make the Cricut work. I can't load paper or anything. Wondering if I should try to get my money back.
