If you need some additional inspiration, check out artfullymusing.blogspot.com. She creates some really neat bottles. She also has a tab under blog for tutorials and has some cool techniques there to use on the bottle.

Since I figured out what I want to do with the challenge I have not even looked at the stuff. I have a scrapbook I am hoping to get finished to send with my DH on Sunday. I should be able to get this put together in no time once I start.

For those of you thinking about etching, it really is not hard. I have done many items, including: picture frames, vases, cooking dishes, glass mugs, cups and even the glass orniments.

Hope you all are having a great day and will check in again this weekend or next week.

Thanks for the encouragement Scrapy ! I just may DO IT !! (etching...that is Blushing )

I was thinking today that we never really asked if the "bottle" or "jar" had to be made of GLASS ~ plastic opens up a lot of possibilities and cheaper postage too !

OOO-sounds cool! Can't wait to see what you made!

My bottle is coming along nicely, especially since I ------'d it with ------. Super easy with great results. Now I just need to adhere all the ------, and finish it off with ------. I hope Altina will like the -----, ------, and ------- theme. It's a 3 in 1!Flapper
The only thing I'm not sure about if how to do the topper. It has a plastic one and it's attached....I might need to get the drill out.

COB,
I worked on your bottle last night, almost cried because I thought I made a major booboo involving glue and thought I was going to have to cover it up somehow, it's a fancy bottle, so I had to find a way to fix it. Well as it turned out, I tried a little something and it actually turned out better than what I had thought. Lets just say, I found a new technique, for me anyhow! So most of it is complete, just adding a few more touches here and there. Hoping to complete it tonight or by tomorrow night. Either way, it should go out to you by Saturday, so I'm going to need your addy!BigGrin

My worry is mailing it, there are some pieces that may fall off, if not careful during travel. So any ideas on what is the best way to box it or for that matter, where to get a box for it? It's a tall, medium sized bottle. Any suggestions would be great!!!

Thanks!

It is funny how a mistake can make us try something to fix it, and then the cover up, becomes even nicer that the original. I end up using embellies to cover up a lot of my glue mishaps, and it ends up looking even better.

At least half of what I know I learned by trying to fix a mistake... As for packing I plan on using LOTS of bubble wrap, tape and paper to cushion it and it will be going out in a freeze pops box!

I was going to suggest lots of bubble wrap as well. That and mark the box as Fragile.
The ice pops box is a great idea. I don't think too much about the boxes because I can "recycle" parts boxes from where I work so I usually can get the size I need.

I'm working on this swap this weekend. I have my idea now I just need to pick up a few more pieces and parts. Getting excited now. I love seeing how my ideas translate into the final project. Sometimes it is not as easy or nice as I had in my mind and sometimes it comes out way better. Rarely is it exactly how it started. LOL

I like the idea of the plastic bags, cheap and easy to mold it around the bottle, I think I'll add some bubble wrap too. I'm going to hit the wine store and try and get a wine bottle box from them, it will give me an excuse to buy some wine.BigGrin

Thanks!!!

The other thing to do too if they don't have one is walmart usually has some good rigid boxes in their little packing section. Cheap too. Bubble wrap for the bottle and then fill in the empty spaces with bags. I did that with pickle jars sending to Australia and they made it in one piece. No pickle juice everywhere.

I have some of those styrofoam peanuts that I really don't like but they work well to fill up a box. They work good, especially if you have a couple flat items and then some odd shaped items to put all in the same box. They fill in all the little spaces.

My bottle will be going out Monday to Kelley.

She thought that was early but we really only have a couple weeks and it will be

JULY

Cool Can't wait to see it, super excited! Your bottle will go out tomorrow, went to Walmart and they gave me an empty shoe box. The liquor store only had big boxes for the exception of $60 to $80 bottles of brandy, (hobby stores, yes... booze, heck no), so shoe box it is!!! I did get a bottle of wine, though!LOL BigGrin

COB... bottle is postal, it went priority, will arrive to you on Monday, dc# 9505510933073166412518. Have fun opening it, I taped the heck out of it, lol. Hope you're happy with it!Smile

Oh yeah, I removed the cork from the bottle, I added some things to it which made it rub up against the top of the box, so look for it when you open it.
