DH bought me a Cuddlebug for an early anniversary gift. I have been reading up on these and saw that you can use dies with them also, is that right? He had my dd order it from HSN, it is the Anna Griffin one with a ton (well 32) embossing folders I believe. YAY....

Yes, Denise you can use dies with the cuddlebug ... you just have to adjust the 'sandwich' for the type of die ... and don't be surprised at the loud cracking noise it makes when you use a die in it BigGrin

A lot of people get a 2nd set of B plates to use with dies only because the cracking noise that Candy mentioned is normal put it leaves indents in the plate; eventually they become very nasty looking.

Hello ladies,
Just thought I'd pop in and see what everyone is up to.
I have had to pitch several of the B plates and buy
new ones.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I am so excited. So I will order an extra set of B plates, it comes with an A and 2 B's. And start looking for reasonably priced dies.
On the other hand, I have finished 2 of the 3 projects. (Thanks Kelley, for the cuts) and trying to figure out the 3rd.

If you don't have a "C" plate, I would get one of those and hold off on another set of B's for now.
Some of the dies I use, I need the C plate for. I also have a few pieces or chipboard to use as shims if needed. Here are a couple sandwiches for you. Stack from the bottom up
Some of the dies have instructions on the packaging and some you will have toplay around with depending on your paper.

For the large TH/Sizzix dies
B plate
Die UP
paper
B plate

For the TH individual Sizzix dies (like the deer and 25)
C plate
Cardboard shim(double cardboard piece)
die UP
paper
B plate

Hope this helps.

JCI -- I am working on my project and hoping I can pull it off. I love a challenge and this one has become one that is a lot of fun. I have learned so much about my machines just trying different things. Usually, I just cut and that's it but I have been experimenting to get what I want and it is amazing what each machine can really do if you sit down and really work with it. I am so glad I signed up for this swap.

Got the Cuddlebug today and am going to my sisters tomorrow to borrow a few of her dies to try it out. She said she like using this type of die cutter rather than a Cricut....do not know what she is talking about. I love trying new machines...husband tells me I am a craft junkie..any new way to get high (create) and I want it.

I agree with your sister about using the dies versus a cricut. Although I do still love my cricut.BigGrin

I'm kinda on the middle. I like dies for some things. I like my Cricut for others... For this challenge, I used both, but mostly my Cricut.

Good news, Denise - I am done! I asked a lot of people for advice because I was out of comfort zone but I think I did a good job for you. At least, I hope you really like it. Getting to the PO might be tough for Friday or Saturday but I think I can make it for Monday. I will let you know :)

I like my Cricut also but sometimes it is much quicker to just use a die and the Cuttlebug especially if you only need 1 cut.
I hardly ever use the Cricut without DS so by the time I turn on the computer, get the program up, find the cartridge and turn on the E, I could have cut a bunch on the Cuttlebug!!!!
If that is, I have the die I need.

I would be lost without CCR...seriously love it.

My favorite cartridge out of the 3 would be Winter Wonderland.

Cut a few things with the Cuttlebug. I was almost in tears when I saw how the die cuts through to the b plate. My 14 year old laughed at me. He said it is a piece of plastic and can be replaced. The he gave me 10.00 to buy a set on him...little brat. i do love it though and bought my first set of Sizzix thin boarder dies. I do have to ise a shim with them though.

Well I won't lie and say I use the Cricut exclusively, I do another electronic die cutting machine that I use a lot. Maybe I am a craft junkie.....but I do use CCR for the convenience. My cartridges are in "storage" at my sisters.....

Have a good week end.

Is ccr the online thing?

Kel I also got your cuts, thanks ever so much! Love
I am now finished with the last project and plan to
mail tomorrow.

Waves to amylendall, my partner.

I finally got thru to Ellison/vagabond and they are going to either
fix or send me a new one, they even sent me a shipping label! So I am
truly happy about that.

Have a great day everyone!

yep and you can add your carts to it so you don't have to get them out all the time but it does not link them like the g does. ( at least that is what they have said )

will be working on this later this week.

My top three? I used to think French Manor would be a favorite. Love the cuts, but hardly use it! So here is my list:

1. Art Philosophy - I use cart thing a lot!
2. Holiday Frames and Tags - it's not just for the holidays.
3. Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art- the font is awesome. The images are nice, too.

No, nothing else in mind. Use any die cut you want. Let your imagination go wild! (except in the direction of Neon Land)
