I leave for a few hours to go play mini golf and come back again to lots of posts again!

This is going to be fun to receive such a nice collection.

I'm thinking we may have to do it all over again in another round so that we will end up with more then just one image of each stamp! Once we see them in our hands, maybe then we also can decide about just plain stamping or heat embossing, etc. I have yet to use a steampunk stamp that I've actually colored in with copics. The ones I've used thus far seem to be appropriate just being stamped in black or metallic.

I think we will learn from this round!

I think I have everyone listed correctly but please speak up if I've messed up. And no rush to specify your stamp - I have a feeling that you will maybe do some stamp shopping in the next week or two, like Terri plans on doing.

Just make sure I get your name in a group if you want in on this swap.

Thanks everyone!

Put me in for both 3 & 4 please.

Put me down for a Hot air balloon for group 3. I don't know the company.

For group 4, I have Crow with Hat from Lost Coast designs. The one on the top right is the one I have.

The only others I have are the TH jalopy's and the set scrappydew posted. I could do the pen nibs as a border if you open group 5LOL LOL
Or I could do another from the Americana Blueprint set

That shoe is awesome Maria!!! We may have to open a 5th Group just to have you do it twice! I've not seen it before!

and I love the patent man too!

See! I just knew it! All these stamps and I do not have the majority of them so I am loving that we can share with each other!

Glad everyone like the heels, I can do as many as you need!!!

The heels are perfect for coloring, I used Spectrum Noir markers on it which is similar to the copics. You can also cut out the words and only use the shoe, which is what I did for a project I made.

Hi Barb,

I have found that doing my embossing the way Gwynne told me is easier. No need to use the little packet of anti static stuff and your powder goes only where you want it to.
I posted her instructions a few posts ago.

I would try it both ways and see which works best for you.Smile

The steamboat works great. I'm not so sure about the clock. Can I bother you to see what else you might have first before using the clock?

Artistic Outpost stamps are beautiful stamps! I can see the steamboat being used on a card or tag for a male.... Also, that might be a stamp that is too hard to heat emboss because of all the detail and many lines. See next post on discussion of this.

Embossing Topic:

As I explained in first post - I think many of the images may work better for us if they are embossed so that we can practice our TH techniques of sponging, spraying, misting, etc. around them.

And I also commented that so far for me....I haven't colored in any of my steampunk stamps, but just stamped them in black ink to stand alone like that. (and I also admit I've hardly used them yet so I'm still figuring them out myself)

Now, we are starting to see some of you add stamps to the list that probably will be colored in - Maria's shoe, Kelley's Owl, etc.

And then I wonder if Lori's steamboat will stamp better if it's not embossed cuz of all the lines and detail.

And sometimes I can copic color easier when the lines are embossed cuz it bumps up the lines and prevents me from going over the lines with my marker in tiny areas. So I am a huge fan of embossing, but most of you know that already about me.

Here's the touchy part: If you feel the stamp will work just fine for us, not embossed, then talk to me about not clear embossing it. But this is in no way an opportunity or excuse to not have to emboss all your stamps. Honor system here. It's a little more time involved to emboss but not that much longer.

Lori, I personally like that rectangular box of writing on the open seas better.

I could see us having it be the background of our tag, card, project and then building other stamps on top of it, especially for travel themed project.

You might even want to use a light brown ink, like it would be faded over time instead of jet black....or atleast that is what I'm envisioning in my mind looking at it. I'm sure SU! has shown it in a way that best shows it off too.

If anyone disagrees, just speak up! lol

Barb - to discuss your question about embossing with black powder.

Black EP is very hard to work with! You have to be so careful to use the cornstarch baggie to rub all over the paper so that the flecks of EP won't stick to other areas of the paper where the stamped lines are not.

I have black EP for fine detail, Ranger...same as what I prefer with the clear EP, but I just cringe if I have to use it.

The clear EP is nice cuz if it does stick to other sections of the paper, you don't notice it cuz it's clear! lol

and for some reason is just doesn't seem to stick all over the paper like the other colored EPs do.

Why, I have no idea.

So, I understand why you are asking that question, it seems logical in your mind and saves on having to stamp on 2 different pads....but I promise you it's actually more time consuming...cuz of the cornstarch baggie and having to be extra careful.

Also, you may find that just stamping with versamark pad may not stamp as clear of an image. IT's so gooey feeling, compared to the good Memento ink or Archival Ink that TH quite often uses. Maybe it's just me being OCD, but I feel that using the good ink gives a much clearer stamped image.

And while it's on my mind....just a reminder that if you stamp too many images all at once with your stamp...the images may start to not be so crisp looking. The stamp needs to rest after a few stampings. So if you find yourself having issues, just take a break. lol OR do 4 of one stamp, then go do 4 of the other stamp, etc. and go back and forth like that.

And be sure to practice stamping on scrap paper a couple times too. Especially if using stamp for first time. It usually takes me a couple stampings before the stamp picks up the ink with good coverage and stamps good crisp, fully inked lines on the image.

And if you have troubles stamping...then try stamping on a stamping pad (foam mat) or on a magazine. Or if you are using cushion, then try just stamping on hard table top. And this may sound silly...but make sure you are stamping on strong part of your table, not on the end of the table where the leaf may be weaker. Trust me, I've noticed these things myself! The sturdier the table, the better.

Try pressing harder, try pressing lighter or quicker. Some stamps work wonderful, others can drive you nuts! Or I've found that if I turn the stamp the other way then the section of the stamp that was not stamping properly now stamps just fine. Must be something about the weight of your hand, the pressure of your hand, holding the stamping block. So spin it around! lol

and I remember reading that TH stamps from M's don't stamp as nice as his stamps from other places. He even commented on that himself! Don't ask me why but I swear that's what he said when someone was complaining about the acrylic stamps at M's of his.

I'm just full of interesting info...aren't I though?

We filled 4 groups way faster then I ever dreamed we would!

I'll leave it open for a few days to see if any other ladies are interested in joining. Then we'll figure out a way to fill it on up.

Beanie's Mommy - you discussed steampunk stamps but never said you wanted to join....so I never added your name to the Groups!

The telephone booth in this set is very Steampunk. (If anyone does all the groups that bicycle is a penny farthing which is also in an earlier group.)

Yep, I knew we were duplicating the bicycle...but figured might end up with different gals in the last Group, so not that big of a deal.

We will have to catch that telephone booth in a later round or she can change it out for one of her other groups, really doesn't matter to me!
