I just purchased my Cricut Expressions 2!! It will be here Friday and I am trying to decide on what carts I really have to have to start with. I am mainly looking for a variety of fonts at this point. My questions are: If a cart says "Provo" will it still work in the E2? What font cart would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

If you see the Cricut logo, it will work. The E2 also uses the Imagine cartridges. I have so many cartridges that I used regularly that I honestly can't tell you that I have one that is my a favorite over another. I suggest that you go to the "SHOP" tab at the top & look at the cartridge library to see what is available. I buy the majority of my cartridges on E-Bay. They are much cheaper there.

You could go ahead and download the free cricut craftroom - You will be able to design your cuts from the cartridges in this program plus so much more. there is so much more you can do with ccr that you cannot do with just your stand alone machine. The only drawback to the craftroom is that you have to be connected to the internet to use it.

Anyway, you could go ahead and download the design program and you will have access to every cartridge that cricut has. You have to own the cartridge to be able to cut you images but you can still see and play with around with them all. If you go to the text feature in craftroom, you will be given a list of all teh carts that have fonts - you can type in a textbox from any of these font carts to see what they look like. you can do the same thing in the cartridge library and this will give you all cart fonts and images

I collected font cartridges the first time I bought a machine. I think I had 9 of them. Then I had to sell the machine and carts cause money situtations and when I bought my next E 4 years later, I've bought images. Most image carts also have fonts on them. I bought what I would use the most of. Christmas and summer were big ones for me. And then I went crazy over anything baby related because I got a granddaughter. So anything girly is now in my collection :)

Ebay is a great place to get started. I suggest getting a variety of cartridges to start off with. Have fun!!

If you're interested in fonts, Narelle has compiled a reference guide of all the fonts on all the Cricut carts. You can download it and then look through them to see which ones you like and thus, which carts you want to buy.

keep in mind with the imagine cartridges even though your machine has a slot for them it will only cut from them not print so the images won't be exactly the same as if cut/printed on the imagine. So I would look closely at those handbooks before buying them.

Also most of the current regular cartridge contain at least one font. If you go the shopping section of cricut.com you can pull up the handbooks for each cartridge (click on the cartridge and then details and digital handbook)
