OK, so since this is a cartridge based system HOW is a universal F1-F14 1-50 going to help use cartridges WITHOUT a book?

Just keep making it harder to use with cartridges..

back to SCAL I go..

I don't have one of the universal overlays, but from what I have read they will work similar to the way I have numbered my handbook images anyway. I'm not saying I think this move to a "universal" cartridge was the smartest thing Cricut could have done.....but, for me these universal overlays will work.

However I do question question the following: If Cricut is putting out this "universal" overlay, then obviously they feel by doing so will save them money. I certainly don't disagree Cricut should make money----I do disagree with them (Cricut) offering us less so they can make more.

Hello all! The new format and the Universal overlay in much easier to use than the old overlays. You used to have to squint and guess that you were choosing the correct item to cut. Now you very simply follow the recipe shown for each image in the manual. Contrary to the comment in the first post, each cartridge will still have a very nice manual which features larger pictures of each image. Also, we will not be offering less in our cartridges. We still continue to offer the same types of image packages as we have in the past.

I suggest going and looking at one of the new hand books and read the instructions. It's nothing like 'numbering the pages'. The parts are numbers, not pages. You can view the new handbooks by clicking on the cartridge and view details.

Go check out Joy's Life. She did a video tutorial on how to use the universal overlay, and it looks very simple.
