What is your favorite Christmas memory ?

I don't have a really cool story. We grew up very poor and didn't get much for Christmas. My favorite Christmas memory is the family traditions and time we spent with each other. We strung popcorn and made ornaments for the tree. On Chrismas Eve we went to the Sunday School Program in the new dresses Grandma made for us and at the end we got a bag filled with peanuts,an orange, an apple, a few hard candies and a whole candy bar. What a treat! When we got home we opened gifts and alway received the same thing, underwear and socks from my great-grandparents, the new dress from my grandparents and another piece of clothing from my parents. Mom would make hot chocolate and we would sing Christmas Carols with my mom playing the piano. Before we went to bed, we would set out our shoes so Santa knew where to leave each child's gift. In the morning, we would get up early to see what Santa brought, this would always be a toy or something we asked for. In the middle of the room would be a big bowl of fruit and nuts for the whole family to share and in a good year a board game.

Later Christmas day my great-grandparents and grand parents would come over for a big dinner and family time.

As I have had my own family I have tried to keep in mind that it is not the "things" that you will remember or that makes Christmas special, it is the sharing with others that keeps it in our hearts.

This week's BONUS QUESTION for Saturday night :

What is your favorite Christmas memory ?

I have many wonderful memories of the holdays and Christmas. I come from a large family and one of the things we did was draw names. When we were little my mom would put names in a hat on Thanksgiving and we would draw a name out. My dad would then give each of us money ($5 when we were little and then $10 as we got a little older) to spend on the person whose name we drew out of the hat.

Our parents would take us to a small mall to shop usually the saturday after black Friday.

We would wrap up the packages and put the name of the person it was for but would not put down who it was from. It was really fun trying to keep others guess who had thier name. Most of the time we were able to guess and would know what we were getting because we had spied on each other when shopping.

What is your favorite Christmas memory?

I don't have one memory however many memories of my father taking my brothers and I for a ride each Christmas Eve to look @ Christmas decorations in the town next door to us. Don't know how he knew where to go but we loved it! and it gave our Mom a chance to make room for Santa and gifts.

What is your favorite Christmas memory ?

This question for me is easy to answer Christmas 2010 is the day I knew that my boyfriend at the time was the only man I would ever want to spend the rest of my life with. And it wasn't about any presents he may have brought me. It was about the happiness he brought into my life and knowing that he gave me comfort. And in 2011 that great boyfriend became my wonderful husband. So every year on Christmas we take some time just the two of us and celebrate that day as a milestone in our relationship.

Hi Madeline - thanks for reposting the MQ. You sent me your MQ last time in a Personal Message (PM) I dont think you ever posted it on the MQ as I looked for it last month. THe posts will be pretty much in Date order, so that is the easiest way I know of for looking up a post when you do not have the actual post number.
You need to go to your "Profile page" which is where you enter your registration information and choose an Avatar. On this page you will see where you can enter your Physical location and also place your MQ# Page # and Post# so that your secret sister can see where to look for it.
Also, there is place in your profile where it will show you last 10 Posts and that is a big help too.

I hope this helps. I am not always good at explaining things.

You raise a wonderful son to take on a relationship with a single mom of three my heart was filled with so much joy to hear that, It's such a blessing that a man or woman would take on such a BIG responsibility like that and become a instant family as you put it lol.

Good morning! Big waves to my SS! I can't wait to get started on this swap! I have started gathering items but haven't gotten around to making anything yet. I will as soon as the craft fair! I have lots of ideas!

If you could have any gift for Christmas this year, regardless of the price, what would you REALLY like to have ? Well my Christmas gift would be a huge piece of farm land with a big house with a wrap around porch, lots of animals and a craft store/retreat house, so that crafters like myself could get together and do what we love bestLove .

I'm off to check in on my other swaps and get back to preparing for my craft fair! I hope you all have a wonderful week!

OH this one is so easy....I would love to have the high end piece of furniture called a SCRAPBOX! Had planned on treating my self to one this year, but was handed an unexpected surprise of my job being terminated! So for now I have been living off of my savings and having some miner surgeries done before I start looking for another job.

LOL I know that is technically very possible ! I don't think your partner will be disappointed if there is a bit of an "overlap" on the songs...My idea here is to spark some variety in the items that we send.

Another thought for everyone - by the way - is that the items you purchase do NOT have to be expensive items. It is really fun to get at least one really grand item in there since this is a Christmas Box, but I don't feel like you have to spend $50. on a swap box. Everyone has their budget limits, so use those 50% off coupons and sales at the stores.

I have to go to work early tomorrow so I will have to stop the MB for tonight and get ready for bed soon...Hope you all have a wonderful evening !
