Absolutely! I have that myself to use.

And for anyone that does not have any kind of brick embossing folder or stencil, you can think outside the box to come up with an alternative. Whether it be paper with brick or fireplace or a cricut diecut of brick or fireplace, etc.

Just try to come up with something that goes along with the verse please. I do realize that not everyone will have such embossing folder or stencil and may need to change it up some to make the tag work.

And I almost think there is a tutorial out there on the web that instructs how to make faux brick lines on paper....just seems like I remember seeing that once upon a time....

Here's some other food for thought regarding the 2nd to last directive or the last directive about inspiration or something they can use in 2014.

If your SS happens to mention in her MQ that she'd really like to learn some technique, and if it's a technique you are familiar with..... Here is perfect way to do up a kit of sorts for her.

You could give her some samplings, or some of the supplies needed from your stash or you could do part of it and let her finish it up - anything to inspire her to try said technique or anything to help her accomplish that goal in 2014!

See where I'm coming from on these?

Seems to me that Cheryl made up some sort of tutorial or lesson plan or something in a past swap in the past year. Maybe I have wrong person...but someone did something that was unique and just perfect for their partner to help them out.

Plus Maria wanted to learn how to do a certain altered paintbrush that Kelley made - so Kelley got it started and sent it to her with instructions on how to continue, etc. (neither one is in this swap)

So another example of helping someone learn.

Half the fun of these swaps is trying to think up ideas for your partner! lol

Everyone has opened their PMs regarding SS assignments.

Please remember that you must check in every couple of weeks.

We had a stressful experience one Christmas swap with gal supposedly being in and out of hospital. We kept hanging on, hoping for the best. As it turned out she never did communicate again with us, had to remove her from swap last minute which wasn't hardly fair to the others who had to rearrange their boxes to match new SS. I learned my lesson on that one.

So I am not joking when I say that if you do not communicate regularly you will be removed promptly. I will not put myself thru that un-necessary stress again.

My new rule when it comes to Christmas Swaps is that if you are so sick or so lazy that you can't make the effort to check in once every two weeks, then you are too sick or too lazy to make a good effort to make 20 nice items and send a nice Christmas swap box to your partner. Therefore, you should be removed in fairness to all. I think that is fair and common sense.

And I have a gal that is willing to step in. So if anyone is changing their minds this next couple of weeks, then just kindly let me know and I will remove you and you will not go on the Flaker's List.

First check in is by Monday, October 7th. Then I will be doing check ins every 2 weeks from that date forward.

I really get tired of sounding like a broken record...but we have newer gals joining us this Christmas swap so I just want them to understand why I am stricter for this swap. Like I said, I've learned my lesson from prior years. And it is just a huge let down when you get flaked on in a Christmas Swap. It's about the meanest thing a swapper can do to a fellow swapper. And then it's just not fair to expect others to step in last minute and rush to fulfill a swap box and spend their already tight budget on more postage expense when Christmas is just a week away.

So please, please, please just communicate if personal life gets in the way and you can't complete a swap. I am far more sympathetic when I'm told the truth and given some fair notice.

And that is my last lecture on the importance of checking in.

Checking inBigGrin As a hostess myself, I know exactly what Gwynne is talking about.
It only takes a minute to hop on the MB and check in. Even a JCI will doBigGrin

It may seem harsh and non-caring but if you have ever been flaked on you will completely understand why she posted what she did. Been there done that and it isn't fun!!!!!

I have found though, if you chat more, your partner has a better idea of what you would really like to receive.

Halloween swap is done so now I will start gathering ideas for ??????
Did you really think I was going to tell you who my partner isLOL LOL

Tell PC Denise, lay it on a bit thick that it really, really upset him ... then maybe they'll pull the codes ...
Coke pulled a whole lot of bottles with a game in the cap ... each cap had one English and one French words ... sometimes the combination upset people ... one was YOU RETARD ... retard means slow in French ... DOUCHE is shower in French ... also upset a few people ... apparently the languages were vetted independently ... guess they should have thought of the meaning if it was the other language LOL LOL

She said she'd try to pop in and say Hi!

And she had been spying on the swaps this year, checking out how well we are all doing. She said she was tempted more then once to join one of Kelley's monthly swaps, but just knew she shouldn't, due to workload.

So just wanted to pass that on as some of you had been asking me about her recently.

I was just thinking about her the other day as I didn't see her name on the list for this swap. Glad to hear she's doing well. Wow and isn't Kiko like 2 years old now?!

This came up a while back about using empty rolls...several people were grossed out because of the location of the TP roll to the toilet. Most were discussing fecal spray, etc. and it was pretty gross topic, but may be better if you ordered unused rolls from like Oriental Trading or somewhere like that. JMHO Blushing BigGrin

Paper towel rolls would be much better than TP roll, you can just cut them in half. TP rolls are pretty gross.

I started on my first project last night, I hope it turns out, it's something I haven't made before, but luckily I have plenty of supplies in stock for this.
Next I'm gonna be working on one of my favorite things to do and that's altering a container for my SS Christmas sweet treats.

I will also be watching alot of You tube for inspiration.
