For those of you that are new to this challenge, LID means Laying It Down. This was the original name when the challenge first started back in 2010 so I am not really sure where they came up with it.

With summer over, school starting up and the holidays not far away, I thought it would be a good time to start these up again (plus a couple people asked about it) I will use mostly online sketches but I may also post some that I have found in scrapbook magazines. These I will have to draw for you. They will be basic drawings with photo sizes specified.

Every couple weeks, I will post 2 sketches for you to use to scrap you pictures. There is no commitment for anyone to do these, so just have fun with them. You can do both sketches, just one or combine them and do a double layout!!!
These sketches are flexible and are just a starting point for you. Don’t be afraid to change the format, rotate the sketch or add, remove or combine elements.
Adapt the sketch to work with your photos and the elements you want to use.

Please post a picture of your layout once you finish so that we can all see how you interpret the sketch.

So here are your first 2 sketches. HAVE FUN!!!!!!

I have been doing so many other crafts that I haven't had time for layouts.
They are still my favorite thing to make though!!!

I hope to work on these sketches soon. I do have a couple small day trips that I could do up!!!

Sending my pictures off for print in the morning (Walgreens) so hopefully in the meantime I can start thumbing through my stacks and stacks of paper. I never seem to have the "right" paper.

Thanks for sketches - I really need to get some scrappin done - so I'm going to try and do at least one of those.
I have the same problem as the others - picking papers - that's always such a job - have a hard time deciding on what looks good. I've even bought those collection sets - they do help a bit.
So I'm off to do the hard part - papers.
Hugs, Flo

Finally picked out my pictures!! Now, the same problems as all of you. I have so much paper, my paper shelf broke and fell in. Now it is all sitting on my scrap table.... so obviously I have enough....just never the right paper for what I want to do!!

Layout #1

Unfortunately my fil passed away a couple years ago and none of the pictures had any info to journal from so I just going to have my husband write on the tag.

Okay, here are my 2 layouts!!!! I always question myself once I get them done. I am never sure if the papers take away from the photos or add to them.LOL LOL

Not sure if I need a title on this one but might just go with MONARCH. I did put the date and place on the slide out tag.

Jean...wonderful layouts. Don't think the first layout needs a title. Very pretty border you used under the pictures.

Love the leaves you used on the layout and great selection of paper. I really like how you did all your corners.

I always question my layouts...always a lot of should have done this and that...probably why I never get any of them done, lol.

I finished a page yesterday. Lisa and Jean, I really liked your layouts using the patterned paper for the background, so I did one too. I usually start with a solid piece of card stock. It was fun to do something different!! Thanks for sharing your layouts!! BUT I can't download mine. My oldest son moved back home and has downloaded lots of songs and stuff and we have used too much of our "unlimited" Internet, so they have slowed down our speed and I can't even load a pic to Photobucket to re-size it, so for right now I am stuck. Sorry!!

Jean, I am checking out your new layouts and still joining the challenge!!

I used sketch 2 for inspiration for a layout. I have been having major issues with the message board. I'll see what i can do to post a picture.

Very cute Jean!! Love it w/o photo mats!! - brings out the colors of the flowers.

Laura, very cute with the striped paper and corners!!

Will keep trying - maybe I will try a different site than Photobucket, although that has always worked for me before.
