I have used my Cricut a few times and am very excited - and intimidated.

I had wanted to make a full page cut to use as a background for one photo - and I chose 11 1/2 inches, then 11 1/2 inches, then 11 1/4 inches, then just 11 " - and the message indicates these are all too big. I chose 12 x 11 1/2 paper and the mat certainly accommodates this size... I want to cover the entire scrapbook page. Any idea why I cannot print 11 1/4 - which is the smallest I'd like to go? Is it the accent/frame I chose? Thank you!

The Cricut can't cut to the edge of the mat so the largest you can cut with a 12 x 12 mat is actually 11.5 x 11.5. But, it also depends on the image. When you enter a size, you are entering the height and your Cricut will calculate the width to keep the image in proportion. Both of those sizes need to fit within the 11.5 boundries.

You can get a larger cut in height or width sometimes by using a 12 x 24 mat. . .also depending on the image. Some people will "trick" their Cricut by selecting the 12 x 24 mat and using the 12 x 12, but I would be concerned the blade might leave the edge of the mat, get stuck and cause a problem with future cutting.
