Hello. VERY late to the party on the Gypsy. Bought one forever ago and just now tempted to take it out of the box.

Tried to use it this weekend only to find I cannot. Apparently, the Gypsy will not work with the type of security software I have on my computer. My husband is very leery about changing things with our firewall.

I am really bummed out and want so badly to use it and start linking my cartridges.

Any advice??

Thanks!!

You can try CS. Maybe he would be happier if you just had them walk you through the exceptions portions of the antivirus. This would save you from needing to completely disabling your antivirus on every update as it only makes exceptions for cricut and cricut sync.

Do you have Norton? That happened to me a while back, and I don't like to mess with the firewall/virus either. But my copy of Norton was old. I updated from their website (free) to the newest version of Norton and magically, I could open Cricut Sync and use it again, and I did not change anything to do with the firewall or virus.

Assure the DH that dropping your firewall to update your G is not that risky!. My DH (MS Comp Sci/ internet security specialist) lets me do this periodically and no harm done.

Just drop your firewall/security, download cricut sync, update your G, restore your firewall and off you go. You need to re-up cricut sync every time to make sure you have the latest version.

My DH is so freaky about my security, he has "secured" me out of my own computerLOL ThumbDown Cursing
