Yes I finally just got my first cricut machine. I purchased a cricut expression. I just unpacked it all excited to find that it did not even include a basic cartridge to get started. Is this right? I have read that I can go onto cricut.com and download, but would it not be easier for a brand new user to just insert a cartridge to learn some basic projects?
With this being said, where does one begin. Any reccomendations on what to buy first? It is very overwhelming to a new beginner. What can you suggest. I would appreciate the help.Confused
Thanks

Where did you buy your Cricut? I've only seen a few vendors that don't include a cart or two with a new Cricut.

Also, check under all the packing in the box. Maybe there is a cart there.

At Joann Fabric. It included a 12x12 cutting mat, a tool kit and a cricut gift card for cricut.com. That was it.

That's why. You got the bundle that is geared toward digital users. . .hence the gift card for digital images was included instead of a physical cart. The good news is you can use the gift card right away and the images will promptly be in your Cricut Craft Room account. And/or, you can buy the physical carts and plug them into your Cricut and cut.

ok and that's what I figured. But bare with me (never using this product before), I read that you need a cartridge to cut and if I am understanding this right, when I purchase a cartridge, they each come with a keyboard overlay?
So when I purchase digital images, what cartridge does a beginner get to interface with my digital downloads?
Sorry if this sounds like I am ignorant and maybe once I purchase my first cartridge it will all click. Or is there something else I need to purchase from cricut.com as there is no keyboard overlay either.
When I was looking into what die cut machine to invest in, I liked the fact that I did not need a computer to use this one. I was not aware that they had different bundles.

If you use Cricut Craft Room software and the digital images, the keypads are in the program and will come up on the screen when you select a cart to use.

All of the physical carts released before August 2012 all come with their own keypad overlay in the box with the cart and handbook.

Carts released after Aug 2012 use a Universal overlay that you buy separately {it's around $2}. You only need one as all of the newer release carts will use it.
