Hi Everyone !

This is a swap that has not been done for several months so I decided to open it again. These pins are great for additions to scrap pages, cards, or to wear as jewelry !

We will NOT be making a traditional Pin Cushion for this swap, only pins and a lovely box,or altered tin to place them in. You should get to know your partner to know what type of colors or theme she would enjoy having.

The pins should all coordinate in color and theme so that they look like a "SET" and not a hodge-podge , unless your partner wants a mixed bag of pins like a crazy quilt !Flapper LOL

Here are some pictures of pins and pin cushions from some of my swaps in the past to help you.
Also instructions on how to make the pins.

If you wish to sign up , make a posting and tell us what type of colors and/or themes you would like to have for your pins and container.

If you have not been in any of my swaps, please PM me with your name, address, phone # and email addy. I will not give you a partner until I have this information. Thank you.

No FLAKERS please !!.

* Please use stick pins that are at least 2 1/2" long and 3" ones are the best. You can buy these in FLoral Depts. or in my Etsy shop. I will give you a discount for them in my Etsy shop...Some JoAnn stores have them and they are available at JoAnn.com too...You get #100 in the pack, so they will last a long time.
Please use a variety of beads, ribbons, stickers, or whatever your creative mind desires...make your creation unique and pretty ! I request that you do NOT use plastic beads...and PLEASE USE A GOOD QUALITY GLUE. Some people complain that their embellishments fall off due to people not buying good glue. Hot Glue applied directly to ceramics will eventually fall off...Look for glue that will adhere to a "NON-POROUS" surface. If you are unsure of what to get, there are people in craft stores who will help, and also you can ask for help on the thread from your fellow members. Personally, I find that SCOTCH BRAND 3M Quick Dry adhesive works well for most surfaces. I also HOT GLUE some items, depending on the surfaces. Hot Glue does tend to POP OFF eventually...Some people prefer Jewelry glues.

PEARL TOPPED PINS - Can be painted any color you want !

CRYSTAL TOP PINS - Much more formal looking and look great on fancy stuff !

My stick pin supply is getting low, so I think I'll join in. I definitely want mixed colors though. I tend to use cheery, bright colors and would love open a box of yellows, pinks, oranges, blues, greens, crystal clear and pearls (of course, not all on one stickpin) and anything else that says happy. So color me hodge podge crazy quilt I guess. BigGrin I don't like neons or stickers please. And I never use the short pins so this is perfect. Hope I'm not being bossy. Blushing

Thanks for the swap, Barb.

Stick pins are so marvelous really. It is a wonderful touch on cards or practically anything you make. I even like to use them to keep my ribbons from winding off the spools. Gorgeous. Yes, Ms. Barbara, oh yes indeed.Laugh

Well Barbara,

You are certainly busy! I love stick pins and would really like to join all of the above ladies. I'm more of a vintage type gal but would like anything with bright or spring colors. Like pearls, charms, lampwork beads and different designs and anything teaish. Just saw some Easter egg and bunny-shaped beads in Oriental Trading Co's catalog. Think I will have to order some of those. I also like pins celebrating various holidays. Use your imagination. I can never be disappointed.

Ta-Tea-Ta, Carol K.

Glad to have Denise joining us...and we shall all remember not to make NEON COLORS for her ....and no BLUE ones for me !! LOL

Ladies, be sure you are using the long floral pins. Do not use "head pins" that are made for jewelry. They simply are too flimsy and have no points on the end to pin them through a ribbon or card. They also bend all up when you try to use them. I have recieved many pins from members that were the 1 1/2" corsage pins and they are TOO SHORT. Also, please leave enough of the pin area at the bottom so you can fasten it onto your projects. I have received pins that were beaded all the way to the bottom and then had to remove some of them to make the pin usable.

I am so happy to see people coming back to this and joining swaps again ! Love

Miss Rhonda, your pins are ready to mail tomorrow AM...sent you a tracking #...thanks !

Bumping up for more members !! This is an easy one ladies !! Come and join us - you will be glad you did when you see the wonderful sparkly pretty stick pins you will be getting !! Love

Keeping this open until Saturday night .... but please dont wait until the last minute !

By the way- Here are some ideas : I found the most wonderful box to alter for my pins - it is a large matchbox that slides open. It is okay if your box is made of chipboard, or plastic, or whatever ... just make something pretty to hold the pins. It is also nice if you put a "cover" on the tips of the pins, such as a rubber earring backing to prevent people from sticking their fingers Scared (they don't call them stick pins for nothing !OhMyGod Also a small piece of styrofoam can work as a holder for them inside your container.

Happy crafting !

Okay ladies... I have posted your partners !

I wanted to give you an idea about a container. Here is a pic. of an altered Band-aid Box that was made by Rhonda (Heart2Hand) for me in a swap a few years ago... she doesnt know it, but I have been storing stick pins in this handy little tin, as it is the perfect height for the longest pins !

There are loads of things you can make and alter for holders...I am excited to see what you all come up with because this is such a creative group ! Woot ThumpUp Wub

HELLO TO MY SWAP SISTER!!!!!! Is there anything else I need to know about you. I do not know where your MQ is at. Thanks. I am excited to have you as my swap sister and hope you like what I make you. Now isn't it coincidence (or maybe fate) that I purchased a variety of colors of beads while out shopping one day. I also am a registered nurse!! I would like a variety of colors. Not dull or drabby but bright and cheerful. Thanks!

Hi CricutNat, Glad to see you decided to join us. Please give me an idea what type and color pins you would like. This should be a lot of fun. As I mentioned above I'm kind of vintagey, like bright, happy colors, except no blue or neon, and use your imagination. Holidays are good but not necessary. Hugs, Carol K.

Hi Keithann! I don't have an MQ. Blushing I can't sit still long enough to fill that thing out. It's a little.....comprehensive. I'm working as a hospice RN since we moved to NC from RI this summer. I'm overwhelmed a lot, but I love what I do. Sounds like we have a lot in common....from careers to a love of bright, cheery colors. What might you need to know? Hmm....I don't like steampunk. Flowers and lace are great as accents, but all flowers and lace make me feel woozy. I love fun designs and colors. I love whimsy and cute. I love shaped beads (cows, pigs, owls, skulls, birds, santa faces, etc.) But I don't love big beads. I prefer silver as a stickpin color. And I love charms and dangles. But please don't take all that as "an order." Just some insight as to what I like. I'll be thrilled with whatever you make. I have a stick pin collection that I keep stuck in a styrofoam bunny from TJ Maxx. I'm starting to see more bunny than beads....I love my pins so much, I can't use 'em! BigGrin

Feel free to pass along any more info for me as well. I've built your box already, but I'm thinking about changing it cuz I thought of something I think would be better. Wink

Hodmom, I like butterfies, dragonflies, and hummingbirds. I have never made stick pins so this will be quite an adventure for me. I think I found the perfect container for your stick pins, but may have to change it to something else. Time will tell. Again, I am excited to have you as my swap sister for this swap.

Hey there girlie !! I started thinking that we have not traded in such a long time and it gives me an excuse to bug you more often ! My little green men told me that I owed you some harrassment that was long over-due ! LOL The container is the challenge here... I want to think up something I have not done before using the new G45 Sweet Sentiments -which is right up your alley.
I have already started on your pin collection as I know what stuff you like Love
and as for me, I have been making a lot of cards that are crying for stickpins, so a nice assortment of colors would be wonderful...I love deep rich colors the most, but also love pearls and silver. So I know you will make something really awesome !

Hope everyone is getting connected with their partners... Love

I created my first stick pins. I think they look pretty. Was on a roll and made 16! Now to decide which ones I want to give my swap sister!!!!!

What can I say. I am sort of addicted to making them now. Guess it was a good thing I bought the large pack of pins instead of the smaller quantity package of pins!!!
