I owned an original cricut for about 4 years cutting fabric numbers, I recently upgraded to a Cricut Expression (1). I use the Sans Serif cartridge. For some reasons, the numbers are two vastly different shapes between the two machines and I dont know why. Here is a photo comparison - top 2 are the Expression, bottom 2 are the original cricut. Both are cut with the same materials, same pressure, same everything except for the machines.

Is the blade dull on the expression? The cut looks rugged when compared to the other cut.

That is an old one i found, its ragged from being knocked around in the box likely, they dont look like that unless my mat is too sticky. The cleaner cut is the newer one. The bottom one is the old cricut. The top weird looking ones are the expression.

The blade is the brand new one with the expression and also tried another new one to see if the box one was bad.

and its not just these numbers that the font looks off, 1, 2, 3, 8, 6/9 are all different from the Cricut 1 to the Expression 1. 4,5,7 are all the same between the machines though.

Gotta tell ya, besides the rugged cut from the old one, they appear extremely similar to me in size and shape. When using a ruler to measure off my screen, the bottom set is 1/8" bigger, if that. Are the both cut on the same dial size (real vs. relative)?

They look really different to me, the center of the 2 is much thinner and the curved top of the 2 is bigger. Please, pay no attention to the ragged 2, it wasn't normally like that, that was just the reject still left in the box, they normally were very clean cut but i dont feel like dragging a v1 out just for comparison ;) Let me get out a #9, there you can tell the bigger difference.

The Black/white are the Expression.
Red is the v1.

As you can see, on the 8's and 9's the holes are slightly slanted from the Expression. The 2 is thinner in the center and the top of the 2 is wider than compared to the v1. The 3 looks slightly different too.
