I just noticed that there was a link called "Cricut Blogger Program". It sounds pretty nice, if I were a blogger.

They should have started this program way back when there were a lot of bloggers that were big Cricut fans and had a large following. As it is right now, not many bloggers just only all Cricut.

I get about 100,000 views a month on my YouTube channel, but that probably doesn't count, but it should. So many people have said they bought their cricut because of me. I actually talked 2 of my hair clients to get Cricuts this past fall, it was their first. Guess what they both bought their Explores at launch cause I told them they will love it. They both Love it. And that is only people I know in person, I have reached many threw video.

Most of the bloggers I follow with big enough audiences cut with multiple machines.

Well most of their new bloggers don't only blog about Cricut. So I doubt that is a requirment. Though I may need to read more about it. My blog has been neglected though so unless I get it going and get tons of followers. No Dice here.Blushing lol

I didn't think they needed to only blog about Cricut, but I didn't think they would want bloggers who also use other cutters.

They are clearly interested in people who don't already blog about Cricut since if you had those kinds of numbers blogging about Cricut, you certainly wouldn't need a free machine. In fact, you likely wouldn't need anything free from Cricut since you probably already own it all.BigGrin

Seriously, though, I think they are looking for large DIY blogs to give Cricut a shot.

I agree with you, they are not looking for the diehards, they are looking for other than cardmaking/scrapbooking people and have them incorporate the Explore use in their DIY projects. They are trying to diversify. And by giving them a stake in it, they will promote the Explore more. So far I have found a blogger's images for sale in DS. Tatertots & Jello is the one. Though it does not come up as an image set, if you type in "Awesome" in the search all images, out of all the ones that come up, the one that has a price is it. When you bring it up it says Tatertots & Jello image set and there are more images that are part of that set but for some reason it would come up as an image set.

FOUND TWO MORE: The Idea Room and Tom Kat Studios. The don't come up under image sets but they do show up under all images.

It sounds like it would be good to be a part of. I only blog about Cricut (because that's all I have, anyway), but I have a whoppin grand total of FIVE followers... So, the chances of them accepting me is slim to none. Plus, I don't post every week. I should try to post more; maybe that would help! Razz

Link your blog to your profile here on the MB and post a project photo and you'll get some visitors/followers. The vast majority of my followers came from the MB. BigGrin

I have about 65 followers, roughly. LOL My blog gets neglected badly........ I've never tried to promote it & with all the yrs. I have invested in Cricut/provo craft you would think I would.

I don't post/share a smidgen of what I make & create with my machines & with summer coming I know it won't happen anytime soon. Maybe in the fall I'll think about it more, try to get more followers etc....

Have a great weekend everyone, I have to get going

Bazinga........ I think they are trying to make a change in demographics............. I think they want to "ditch" the "paper crafting, scrapbooking, gramma hobby" aura and when you look at this chart from google trends you can see why:

http://www.google.com/tr...cut%20Explore&cmpt=q

If you can read a bar graph, you can see interest in scrapbooking and cutters is on decline.......... In order to survive, PC has to explore new avenues and cultivate interest from younger creators/makers......... PC has to make a move and pull itself out of a big slump.......... They have some serious PR issues to overcome before they can do that. The interest in scrapbooking has declined overall. People have left scrapbooking/papercutting in droves. I can't fault PC for doing whatever they can to attract new users. Growth is essential for financial survival............ but I don't think turning their back on old-timers is going to have the payoff PC hopes for........ only time will tell.

Several of the crafters who have responded to this thread, have volunteered many free hours to PC. Don't think Cricut users not involved with the company haven't noticed this....... and feel PC has kicked some very very loyal fans to the curb.

have a area called scrapbooking. It is
called paper crafts. I was told that by

I do scrapbook but I love to make cards.
Scrapbooking is not just for Grandmas.
It is sad it is being stereo typed that
way.

Actually, I have seen very little scrapbooking on these two forums. I realize there is a forum here for layouts/scrapbooking (and, the layouts are beautiful and very creative, too), but for the most part on these forums I've seen more PROJECTS than I have scrapbooking.

Am I right, or not?

There has been so many OTHER kinds of creativity here than scrapbooking. I see nothing wrong with scrapbooking for those who LOVE it and they do LOVE it just as others love what they do. I have seen it since I came here in 2008. I don't go to the section that does layouts (again, I have a few times....just not that interested in scrapbooking myself).

I would call making cards PAPER CRAFTS.

Again, there are a great many projects here that are NOT scrapbooking. IMHO.

I don't understand why PC would want to take away what they already have (unless they ARE going to quit producing cartridges and only produce MIN projects). Obviously, they know something we don't; I would think it would be a huge mistake....but, they don't think so.

Oddly enough, I just got an email from box.net that someone had downloaded one of my files. Not unusual, it's set up that way and I never changed. And, I never paid much attention to it. I post my files on my blog and if people want them, they can download them.

But this time, I logged into box and boy was I surprised! The basic little cupcake stand CCR file has been downloaded 677 times! Well, there certainly aren't 677 comments on that post on my blog. Not even a tenth of that. Guess I have a lot of blog visitors that grab the files and run. It's now making me think I need to change the way I share my files. Blink

If every visitor that downloaded a file had taken the time to write even a mere "TY", my blog would be a jumpin'!

BTW: I don't scrapbook. . .make a few mini albums here and there but no scrapbooking. I don't make cards even though I will make a few for special occasions/people. And I've had my Cricut since the end of 2007 and had a different electronic cutter since early 2006. Huh

According to Google trends:

http://www.google.com/tr...%20cardmaking&cmpt=q

The outlook and interest level for paper crafting is even lower than scrapbooking........

I am sure the marketing gurus at PC have been aware of this downswing for a long time......... and need to kindle new users (aka makers aka creators aka DYIers) is an economic necessity. PC is not the only paper crafting/scrapbooking manufacturer who is referring to DYI like redoing your home or a room is something new and innovative.

Hobbies are just that, hobbies......... and the fads and involvement swings like a pendulum. New markets have to be found, but that doesn't mean it's prudent to abandon old users.........
