If you love to make cards following a sketch this is the place to share your cards. If you have never created a card (or layout) following a sketch you really need to give it a try you will love it, in fact it is rather addicting!

Here are the sketches for the challenge this time around. Use them as inspiration and then come back and share your creations with us so we can ooohhh and aaaahhh over them. JUST HAVE FUN.

Sketch #1

Sketch #2

Sketch #3

sketch #4

We also throw an extra credit in there just for fun. This week's extra credit is to flip one of the sketches for example turn it sideways or upside down. Not much of an extra credit because you can do it anyways. AND if you have jumped on the card in a box card band wagon share yours here or use this an your opportunity to give it a try, they are very easy and so much fun.
Here is a great link on how to make one. A great way to use Cricut cuts.

Here is my sample for #1 amd the extra credit. I flipped the sketch sideways.
The paper is from the CTMH Clementine paper pack.
The arrow was cut in CCR using Graphically Speaking and a slight shadow added. Sentiment is a Gina K stamp that I stamped on a label cut from CTMH Artbooking

Sketch #2
Papers are from the CTMH Tommy paper pack. Also the "flag" and ship wheel are coordinating canvas stickers. Tag is from Art Philosophy. I stamped the celebrate 3 times without reinking so they would be slightly faded each time.

Sketch #3
I seen this sketch a long time ago and wanted to make it and I finally did!
I love the way it turned out. I embossed the background using a folder I got with my eBosser. The star is cut ad layered 3 times using CCR and Craft Room Basics.

Sketch #4 ***added details****
Center background paper was printed using my Imagine. The diamond & spade I cut using Artiste and then covered with Crackle Accents. I made this a while ago and saved it to use for when I hosted next.

Donna

Thank you for the wonderful set of sketches. Love your sketch 1 with that set of papers. Papers are perfect for your sketch 2. I have both sets of those papers and love them. What a fun sketch for #3. Great embossing folder and like the colors you chose. Absolutely love your sketch 4 in my favorite color combination.

colors. Oh my gosh what a beautiful box card. Your mother is going to love it.
I love the sentiment and the flowers came out so pretty.

NanaDonna,
Love the sketches and your samples, hope to get them done soon....busy week-end ahead.

#1 - Love the colors and paper patterns, looks nice on the flipped side, too. The narrow tag with brads is very nice. Pretty card.
#2 - Love the bright colors and nautical theme going on here! The canvas stickers are perfect for this card. Like the way you did the sentiment with the stamping...thinking of lifting this idea, ok?
#3 - Great card for someone celebrating a 4th of July birthday. Like the use of only three colors, looks so crisp and clean. Pretty embossing, too!
#4 - Great color combo and assorted patterns, great male card and/or for someone that enjoys playing a good game of cards. The center is so pretty and the spade and diamond covered with Crackle Accents look great.
Card-in-a-Box
This is so very pretty and even prettier in person. The pearl-like cardstock you used for the flowers is so beautiful in person, too!, the sentiment is perfection. The back flourish and sentiment are very pretty, as well. I'm sure your Mom absolutely LOVED it. Awesome!!

BingoLady
#1 - Nice! You nailed the Ad Colors this week, cute present cut and nice idea to use only part of the Happy B'day folder at the top.

DeeScraps
Thanks for the nice, cool summer Ad Color Challenge. Now to put on my thinking cap and come up with a nice, cool summer card.Smile

I love to use sketches when I make my layouts but have never tried them for cards. I have said that I was going to try this one of these days, so today was the day. I just finished up some layouts so I used the leftover papers for these 2 cards. VERY simple cards. No special cuts or embossing. I did ink all the edges though.Smile

Hello JeanP so nice to have you join in and share your cards.

Sketch #1 I like the simplicity of your cards. The papers are great for a male card and inking the edges adds some depth to it. Sketch #3 I love this card! The colors and the papers are wonderful together. I sure hope you will continue to play along

NanaDonna introduced me to Card-in-a-Box, at first I thought there is no way I could make one of these cards. But, after seeing the beautiful one she made for her Mom, I just had to give it a try, and am so happy that I did because they are so easy and fun to make!!Love Here is the one I made for my daughter for Mother's Day.

Card-in-a-Box Extra Credit:

SORRY - The flowers look so droopy, I did fix them so they looked pretty, fresh, & perky for my Daughter.Laugh

NANADONNA-I love the color combination you used for Sketch #1 Very pretty.

In sketch # 2, I like how you used the triple stamping. I like that effect!

Sketch # 3 looks like it would be the perfect card for a Memorial Day or 4th of July birthday!!! Very PatrioticBigGrin

Both the "cards in a box" by you and Turtlebug are beautiful. They do look hard though.Blushing

BINGO LADY-- I love how you used the sketch and the ad colors for your card. Very pretty.

TURTLEBUG- Love the Studs on your sketch #2 card. Super nice masculine card.
The party hats paper and embellishment make your #3 a really cute card.

Nice cards everyone.BigGrin Not sure if I will get a chance to do the other 2 but will keep watch for the next challenge.

Do you have the directions/tutorial for the Card in a Box card? Thanks

Welcome!! Glad you decided to join in the fun, you will find lots of inspiration on here for both your layouts and card-making projects. Hope to see more of your creations, soon.

#1 - Very nice, great way to use up those scraps. Nice colors and paper pattern, the inking gives the card a nice little effect. This could be a great male card, which are always hard to make.

#2 - Very nice and simple card to convey a message of "Thanks" to someone. Like the combo of dots and stripes.

NanaDonna posted the link to the Card-in-a-Box at the bottom of her #4 sketch at the top of this page (Post #1). Have fun making the card and it is really easy. You will want to make more than just one!!BigGrin

OMG...OhMyGod OhMyGod OhMyGod
...did I have a hard time with the Ad Colors for this week!! I think I pulled out every blue shade of papers I have and finally picked these. No wonder it is called the AD COlor Challenge!!LOL LOL

My Sketch Card #1 in Ad Colors and Ex. Credit:

Thanks - BEYOND BIRTHDAYS cartridge
Flower - Layer Accents 3-D Sticker from K&Company
Embossing - "Houndstooth" and "Modern Wallpaper" Cuttlebug folders
Tag - Spellbinders "Fancy Tags" set
Papers - All from single sheet rack
Arrow - Couldn't find one as wide as the one in the sketch so I made my own on CCR using a square cut and an arrow cut from ARTISTE cart and welded them together. Not exact, but I think it worked ok.
TFL!!Smile
