Hello everyone. It's time for our next challenge and I'm putting the sketches up tonight. If you've played along before, then you know the drill. If not, here's what you do to join in the fun. First of all, there are no rules. That's right...no rules! You can do all the sketches if you want to or just one or two. We also pick a color combination each time that you can use for inspiration for one of your cards, and then we throw in our "extra credit." That's a little something extra for you to do.

Please post your cards for us to see and feel free to comment on any of the cards.

Thanks, Dee

Hi Dee,
Thanks for Hosting this challenge and for the sketches you have for us. They have a little bit of everything on them and I'm looking forward to see where these sketches take me as far as interpreting them.
Also, LOVE the Ad Color Challenge, so bright and colorful, I'm pretty sure I do have these colors in my paper stash!

This is my Sketch #3 and it's also the Week's Colors. (Got to get those Christmas Cards done earlier this years!)

I made this a 5x7 card because I was feeling crowded with the papers I picked to use. The Yellow Chevron is a new one from Michaels and the Christmas Paper is by Memory Makers called Merry & Bright. The "Merry Christmas" stamp is from a set by Kaiser Craft.

This was going to be my #1 and Ad Color card, but oops..... I forgot to use white on it!! Back to the drawing board!Blushing

My #1 Sketch Card
Wreath and Sentiment - WINTER WONDERLAND cartridge
Papers - All from single sheet rack from last year
Embossing - I embossed the wreath with CB "Swiss Dots" folder and I added red gems for the berries and a square light green gem to the bow center.
The bow and wreath cut I matted with gold shimmer cardstock, which looks pretty in person.

Turtlebug: That's a beautiful #2 card. Your are really making me want to get my Cricut out and start using it. My problem is that I can't seem to get the shadow layer right. I know that practice will help, but I never seem to get the uninterrupted time to do it. Woe is me! Anyway, great card. On my computer the shadow layer looks white...but you said it's gold. Very pretty.

Nana Donna...I'm glad to hear that you are having a good time.

See you all tomorrow.

Dee

I meant to tell you that Michaels has single sheets 5 for a dollar this week. I think the double-sided papers are an especially good deal if you can find any. I always get a few of the new ones when I can.

I finished up some Halloween cards for a swap and thought I would try and use the scraps to make up a card with one of these sketches. I used Sketch #3 and will post a picture later.

All the sketches look like they would make great Christmas cards!!!!

Ok, here goes another attempt at my AD Color card...hope I didn't forget another color this time!LOL

My Sketch Card #4 in the Ad Colors:

*Striped Paper - From single sheet cardstock from last year. The white and light green stripes on this pattern are glittered.
*Sentiment - Stamped with Stazon Black ink with a Michael's rubber stamp.
*Buttons - I used Sew-Easy Fancy Floss (glitter primary) for the bows. The button on the far left is yellow, but it shows really light(?).
*Yellow Circle - ARTISTE cartridge. I cut it from white cardstock and colored it with a Stampendous Fun Cube in #411 Canary Pigment. Embossed it with a Darice "Snowflakes" folder, added a chipboard peppermint candy to the center.
*Stockings - I repurposed the front of an old Christmas card.

Am I the only one who had trouble getting on today? I had to take hubby to pick up his car that was being serviced and this took the entire morning. When I finally got home, I couldn't get on the board. I kept getting an "error" message. Oh well, it's working now!

Turtlebug: Great card! What a good choice of patterned paper and the glitter does show up well. The buttons work great for the circles and that was a great idea to use the front of an old card. I like the bright yellow swirl with the embossing and the red and white chip board really pops.

Back to working on my card that seems like it will never get done!

Here is my Sketch #1. I'm very pleased with the card, but I sure wish the photo showed the colors a little more like they really are. The pinks are all a little different shade and lighter, as is the beige background. Anyway, I needed to make a few "very special" cards for some very special people with birthdays up-coming birthdays. This will be one of them.

It actually started out to be a "shaker" card, but I had nothing to put in it to shake. LOL Not very good planning on my part. I just started pulling flowers and extra die cuts out and this is what I ended up with. The plastic "thingy" is actually something that a tape roll came in and I saved with this in mind. The size was perfect for the Spellbinder circle die. The PP is the front and back of a sheet of My Mind's Eye and one of my favorite. I just love the little roses. The card base is a 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 package that I found when I cleaned out my envelopes. Assorted flowers are from my stash, as is the memory wire that I used to curl. The letters are from the $1 bin at Joanns. The twine is We Are Memory Keepers.

I have two photos of it to post.

You did a really good job on this card. I especially liked the embossing folder that you used. The imprint is big enough that it really shows up. The patterned paper is a cute one that I've not seen before. You did a great job on layering in two different colors. The poinsettias were a good finishing touch.

Turtlebug--Sketch #1- I like your choice of papers and also like the embossing and bling on the wreath.

Hi,

Since the boards are slow this week with some of regular posters out of town, I'd like to post a questionnaire that might be of help to some of our readers and posters besides me.

1. What's your favorite paper cutter and why? I've never found one that cuts straight :-(

2. How do you store your Cricut cartridges and handbooks?

3. How do you store your packer packs and single sheet papers?

4. Which Cricut machine do you own? How many cartridges?

5. How do you store your stamps? Wooden? Acrylic?

6. How do you file extra Cricut cuts or die cuts?

7. How do you file your die cuts?

8. How do you store your markers or colored pencils?

9. How do you store your ribbons?

10. How do you store your punches?

11. How do you store your embossing folders?

12. Name something you just had to have and never used.

13. If you could buy any crafting supply today, what would it be?

You might guess from the above that I'm always looking for new ways to organize my "stuff." Please post photos if you can.

answers to above questions.

1.I have a green and pink Provocutter. Also use a Makingmemories eversharp cutter. It has a 12 X 12 mat which folds in half.

2. I have mine stored on a 3 shelf bookshelf. I keep my handbooks, cartridges and keypads in the original boxes.

3. I have so many paper packs, that I had to move them into my sewing room. I have them stored flat on bookshelves in there.

4. I own the original baby bug, the create, the expression (2 of them) and the Imagine (which does not work) I also have a gypsy and one jukebox. I have over 120 cricut cartridges and 20+ Imagine cartridges.

5. I store my acrylic stamps in 11 albums designed for acrylic stamps, my over flow are stored in two pretty decorated storage boxes. The ones you can buy at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or JoAnns.

6. I do not store extra Cricut cuts.

7. No need to file as I do not store extras.

8. It all depends on what type of markers, pens etc. some have to be stored flat, those I keep in the top two drawers of a multi drawer organizer cart. The rest of the drawers house my wooden stamps. Those that have to be kept standing up are stored in cut off Pringle cans.

9. I have two wall ribbon organizers, and also several individual ribbon organizers. I just made a ribbon organizer out of a photo storage box. I used my crop a dile to punch holes on the sides. I then punched two holes far enough apart at the front and back to run two dowel rods through. I then placed the spools of ribbon on the dowels and threaded the ribbon through the holes.

10. I store most of my smaller punches in plastic organizer boxes. For the larger ones I store them on my window seal and on top of my entertainment cabinet I use to store my bling and stickers.

11. I keep my embossing folders in two Creative memories zipper totes and also the excess are stored in a pink tool box.

12. I bought both the sew ribbon and the sew stamper along with the ribbon punches. I have not used any of them yet.

13. I so want the Scrapbox. It opens up to a full 72 inches when all of the doors are opened and unfolded. In the center is a table you can stand up, multiple pockets and bins for storing all sorts of crafting goodies.

I will have to post photos later, since they were stored on my old computer and my camera is not working, so will have to buy a new one.

I finished all 4 of the ske6tches!!!!!!!! Forgot all about the ad colors thoughBlushing Blushing

Sketch #1 is a simple Christmas card. I used some music paper for my background and iked the edges. I found the wreath in with a bunch of holiday die cuts from past swaps and thought it would be perfect for this card. I added the saying to the middle.

Sketch # 2 was a little challenging for me because I wanted a Holiday card but couldn't find any nice flowers to use. I used a Spellbinders die and cut out the circle stars from glitter paper. I heat embossed the saying and added the stars that came from the centers just for a little something extra.

Sketch # 3 is my Halloween card I made using scraps from other cards I just finished. Nothing fancy but I think it came out cute!!!! The BOO are stick on letters. A little embossing might have helped.

Sketch # 4 I wanted to try for a masculine card. I used a Recollections stack of paper called Regent Street. I embossed both background print papers with Diamond Plate folder. I was hoping it would make it more masculine but I don't think it really did much of anything.
I added some buttons to match the strip and the scallop circle which I stamped the HB sentiment.
