Very new to using my Expression... I keep receiving a characters won't fit error message when trying to print a 5.5 inch border using a 12X12 sheet of paper. Seems to me it should fit! Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm using the candies on the Celebrations cart. Thanks for the help!

Try printing a 2" border and see what you get as in how big it actually is.

It could be that you are measuring the wrong direction. it thinks you want it to be 5.5 inches tall... which because of the proportions could make it 15 inches in length (too long). Just a suggestion, i'm still new to this and haven't figured out which way it measures. It seems to be different depending on what i am cutting.

It ALWAYS measures height, and you can tell which dimension is the height by how it is printed in the handbook. If you measure the picture, that will give you the lenght and width, and you can figure out how big to cut something. So, if there is a tree, and in the handbook it is 1 inch high and 1/2 wide, you know that if you set the size to 6, you will get a tree that is 6 inches high and 3 inches wide.

If it is a border, the size you cut will probably be quite small, as the cut will be wider than it is tall.

Alternatively, if you have the E, you can use the "Fit to Length" button, and then the size controls the length instead of the height.

With the Cricut Craft Room (CCR), you can now make your boarder virtually any size you'd like by stretching and/or placing several smaller boarder pieces together and welding them ... and you will be able to see how it will look on the virtual screen.
