About a month or so I used my Cricut Cake Mini to do a cake and had to go through a series up updating the firmware through DS. I think what I did by accident was install the wrong firmware, I think I selected the "expression" and it worked, but now my LCD screen is all garbled and unreadable. It will still cut through the DS, but no other way because I cannot read the screen anymore. I have tried resetting the unit and now I am at a loss. I do not know what to do to get my Cricut back to how it is supposed to be! I want to try and get this fixed since I have a few cakes booked for the end of the month and I really like using this for my lettering, and sometimes when it is something simple it really can be a pain to set the laptop up in the kitchen along with everything else...

I know of a couple other people who have posted this issue on Cakecentral boards but they haven't posted what they had to do to fix it :(

PLEASE HELP ME!!Confused

I got it finally fixed! I had found from another post a solution thankfully. I did the reset again and then tried again to update the firmware using the Cricut Create update and it works now!! I am so happy that I do not have to call customer service :)

Go into DS and click on Help and one of the options is to update the firmware.

Did you recently update your Create using a Gypsy or CCR? If so, it probably took your firmware to a version more advanced than needed. Updating through DS {even the free trial version of DS that's available over on cricut.com} should revert to the old firmware version.

If you didn't recently update, try the reset first:

1) First, turn your machine on with no cartridge loaded. Then you are going to roll all your gray dials (the two on the left and the one on the right) down to their lowest setting.

2) Then you will want to grasp the green/gold cylinder blade assembly and use it to pull the entire gray carriage car unit (the one with the Cricut bug on it) along its track to the other side of the machine. Back in the cave where the gray carriage car usually sits there is a red button. Press that button and hold it down for about three seconds. Let go and then move the gray carriage car back into place.

3) This next step will sound a bit odd, but many times it can fix your Cricut. You’re going to roll all your dials all the way up and all the way down three times—three times for each dial.

4) Then you are going to hit the “Cut” button and turn the machine off. Let the machine sit for a few minutes (15-20), load a cartridge, turn it on, and try a practice cut.

If this does not solve your problem, give PC a call (or use the Live Chat option) toll free at 1-877-727-4288 7am to 6pm MST Mon-Fri (make sure you are by your machine) and someone there will walk you through some trouble shooting tips.
