Tonight we’re going to party like it’s 2014, literally. And we’re going to look smashing while we rock in the New Year. Whether you’re hosting the bash or heading out, your ensemble isn’t complete without a fun party hat.
What better way to impress your friends with your amazing crafting skills than by creating a fabulous accessory? All you need is your Cricut and a few sheets of paper. Let’s do it!
Cricut Expression® 2 machine
Cricut Craft Room® design software
Standard Grip Cricut® 12x12 cutting mat
Cricut® digital cartridge, Independence Day- 3D projects (http://www.cricut.com/Shopping/detail--Independence-Day---3D-Projects-0-2321.aspx)
Cricut® digital cartridge, Cricut Craft Room Basics
Striped glitter paper
Coordinating glitter paper
Gold spray paint
Download the file for the New Year’s Party Hat and import it into Cricut Craft Room.
I’ve done all of the sizing for you! Lucky you! All you need to do is cut the pieces out with your Cricut.
Assemble the 3D hat following these instructions: http://www.cricut.com/res/ccrehandbooks/Independence%20Day-3D%20Projects-CE_rasterized.pdf
Tips on assembly: Cut a piece of cardboard by hand using the paper semi-circle as a pattern. This will strengthen the base of your hat
Attach the foam dots to the numbers and spray paint everything gold. Hot glue the numbers to the hat once the paint is dry. The foam dots pop the numbers off the hat, giving it another layer of depth.
Personalize the hat with embellishments. I added feathers, ribbon and some curly gold wire for a little pizzazz.
Whatever you’re up to December 31st, usher in the New Year with a creative mindset and super-fly party wear.
