Upcycle Leather Tech Case

by Dezi Moss | Feb 14, 2014

If you have seen any of my other blog posts, you know that I love fashion DIY. Every day during college, my friends would attempt to guess what part of my outfit was handmade. Today’s blog post would be one of those handmade accessories that takes everyone by surprise! And guess what, it gets better! I decorated this tech case using the new Cricut Explore™ machine and Cricut Design Space™! If you have your own Cricut Explore, you can make it in just a few clicks. In the meantime, this tutorial will provide you with instructions for an awesome tech case using your Cricut Expression® 2 machine.

Here is what you will need:

Cricut Expression® 2 machine
Cricut Craft Room® design software
Standard Grip Cricut® 12x12 cutting mat
Cricut® digital cartridge, Edge to Edge
Cricut® Iron-on Lite, Grey
Cricut® Tools, Weeder
Iron and press cloth
Leather Tech Case

Download the file for “Leather Tech Case” and import it into Cricut Craft Room.

Adjust the image so that it is the appropriate size for your tech case.

Cut the images from the iron-on material (be sure your machine is adjusted to create a kiss cut following Cricut's kiss cut recommendations).  Remove (“weed”) the excess material from around the cut image using the Weeder tool.

Use a press cloth and iron to apply the images to your tech case using the helpful Cricut Iron-on application instructions.

Tip: Ironing on leather is a little tricky. It took quite a bit of ironing to get the iron-on material to adhere to the leather. Also, the more you iron, the more any little wrinkles will disappear.

Nice work!
