Leather Headband Tutorial

by Dezi Moss | Mar 14, 2014

My hair is growing out and I am pretty sure I have exhausted every hairstyle imaginable. How many different ways can you wear your hair curly? I decided the solution for mixing up my usual hairdo was a headband. Here is a quick headband tutorial to jazz up your hairdo.

The Cricut Explore™ machine and Cricut Design™ software make this project so easy! Click here to make it now!

Here is what you will need:

Cricut Explore™ machine

Cricut Design™ software

12" x 12" StrongGrip Cricut® mat

Cricut Explore™ Deep Cut Housing & Blade

Leather

Elastic

Fabric adhesive, such as Fabri-Tac

Mount the leather, smooth side down, onto a 12" x 12" StrongGrip Cricut® mat.

Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to cut the 24 triangles from leather. Make sure your Smart Set™ dial is turned to “Custom” and “LEATHER, LIGHT” (1.4mm) is selected.

Use fabric adhesive to adhere the triangles together, as shown.

Measure your head. The average head size is 22 inches, so if you are making it for someone else, 22 inches is a good guess. Subtract the length of the triangles from your head measurement to determine how long to cut the elastic to get a total of 22 inches (or your own measurement).

Overlap the elastic on each side of the triangle strand about a quarter of an inch. Glue in place. Let the glue dry completely.

Look at that! A cute new hairdo! Click here to make it now!

Peace & Love,
-Dezi
