Spring Flowers

by Dezi Moss | Apr 11, 2014

The weather is finally getting warmer so I decided it is time to brighten up the living room with some spring flowers. These simple felt tulips would brighten up any space and the best part is they last forever!

Here is what you will need:
Cricut Explore™ machine
Cricut Design Space™ online software
12" x 12" Strong Grip Cricut® mat
Mustard yellow wool felt, 1/3 yard
Hot glue
Cloth covered stem wire
Wire cutters

Start off by cutting your felt into three 12" x 12" squares, so they’ll fit on your cutting mat.

Just click here to open the “Spring Flowers” project in Cricut Design Space. When the project opens, just read through the instructions and click “Make it Now”.

Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to cut the flowers from the mustard wool felt. Be sure to turn the SmartSet™ dial to the “custom” setting and then select “FELT” from the dropdown menu on screen. The project file has enough flower cuts to make a bouquet of 27 tulips.

Now it is time to assemble the tulips. Start with folding the flower a little under half.

Next, fold the flower into a quarter. Glue in place.

Stick the cloth covered stem wire into the corner of the tulip petals and glue in place.

Time to arrange! I knew that floral arrangement class in college would come in handy someday. Cut the bottom of cloth stem wire to desired length so you have variety in the
length of the tulips. I cut the flower stems anywhere from one to four inches.

Place the flowers in the vase; bend stems different amounts until you have a pleasing arrangement.

There you go, a beautiful crafty bouquet of tulips!

Peace & Love,
- Dezi

Can this only be done with the Cricut Explore?  I have the Expression 2.
