Using cartridges with your Cricut
Explore® machine

We designed Cricut Explore® to work with the free online software Cricut Design Space, rather than as a stand-alone machine. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use cartridges with your Cricut Explore®!

Just use the cartridge port on the Cricut Explore® machine to link your existing cartridges to your Cricut.com account—then you can use them in Cricut Design Space.

Linking is easy! This short tutorial will show you how it works:

Where are they now?

Once you've linked your physical cartridges to your Cricut.com account, you can find them in Cricut Design Space under "My Image Sets" in the Insert Images window.

This video will show you where to find your images and give you tips for searching:

Link your cartridges, and use them too
Even after you've linked your cartridges to Cricut Design Space, you can still use them in machines that utilize cartridges (such as the Cricut Expression® and Cricut Expression® 2). It’s the best of both worlds!

Cartridge linking while you
have a subscription

While you have a subscription, there is no need to link cartridges you own that are included in the subscription (click here to see all content available in a subscription). Because of that, linking is disabled for images that are available in a subscription, for the duration of the subscription period. Licensed cartridges can be linked during your subscription, as licensed content is not included in a subscription.

Linking cartridges from a
Cricut Gypsy device

Please note that if you have linked a cartridge to your Cricut Gypsy device, you will not be able to link that cartridge to your Cricut Explore machine using the cartridge port. Instead, you will need to link your Cricut Gypsy to the Cricut Craft Room® design software to access the content on it.

If you’ve already linked your Cricut Gypsy to the Cricut Craft Room® design software, its content is automatically available in Cricut Design Space! If you haven’t linked your Cricut Gypsy to Cricut Craft Room®, just follow the steps here to do so.

Once your Cricut Gypsy has been linked, you can access its cartridges and images in Cricut Design Space by clicking on "Insert Image" from the design screen and using the filter at the top to choose "My Image Sets" or "My Images". All content will display as "Purchased".
