Bi-Plane Birthday and Bygone Memories

The card is for someone who loves old vehicles. My recipient is an ex-pilot who still admires and appreciates transportation modes from a bygone era. His birthday happens to fall on the Memorial Day weekend, so the bi-plane theme makes total sense for the theme. The card is 5.5" square, aqua cardstock.

CRICUT ®: WHAT WAS USED

OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Aqua and brown metallic cardstock
  • vintage print paper
  • cream dotted paper
  • brown/white twine
  • dimensional glue dots
  • Tea Dye Distress Ink

STEP-BY-STEP How-TO INSTRUCTIONS

Card base is 5.5" square, aqua. Cut brown panel at 5.25" square. Cut print paper at 5" square. Layer and sew these pieces on the sewing machine with brown thread.
From Heritage:
Cut 1 biplane from white at 3.78w x 2.5h
Cut 1 same size from brown shiny CS. Glue together.
ASSEMBLE FRONT:

Cut a length of brown/white twine and wrap around square panels, tie in knot as shown. Adhere panels to card using sticky Zots. Be sure to add a zot behind twine on back to keep it in place. Adhere plane to clouds using pop dots. Glue down to centre of card using Zots or strong adhesive.
INSIDE - Left Panel. Prepare quote on computer using vintage fonts. Print in brown. Trim and mount to back of cloud hole (left over from cutting cream dot cloud). Prepare message on computer for the right panel; print in the same brown ink. Layer over print paper to match front. Ink all edges. Cut 1 small plane from brown @ 1.75w x 1.81h.
CLOUDS

From Create a Critter: "peanut" size 4.083w x 2.653h. Cut 1 from turquoise. Small cloud: "peanut" size 3.944w2 x 2.528h. Cut 1 from dotted cream paper. Ink cloud edges with tea dye ink. Adhere clouds together, offsetting them as shown in pic.
