CRICUT ®: WHAT WAS USED

OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Cardstock from Nana
  • Adhesive and dimensional dots
  • Googley eyes
  • Glossy Accents

STEP-BY-STEP How-TO INSTRUCTIONS

Shutter card base is 12"x6" beige cardstock.
Cartridges used: Create a Critter - Happy Birthday and kite
Cricut Craft Room Basics - number "1"
Easter 2010 - grass
Elegant Edges - blue frame behind sentiment
A Child's Year - monogram letters and ovals

Choose and cut complementary cardstock, sized to fit each of the panels less 1/8" all around. This allows the card base colour to show. I cut the clouds freehand but you could use any cloud shape from cartridges. The kite is cut twice; 1 plain white, 1 from print cs. Paint kite tail ribbons. Add baker's twine to the kite tail with glue. "Pop" the top kite and add a number "1" to the kite.
Large giraffe: 3.74h x 1.74w. Small giraffe: 2.35h x 2.23w. Kite: 2.00h x 1.83w.
Paint giraffe spots by hand using Pro Markers. Horns, tail and feet are inked with Tea Dye and dark brown.
Cut blue background from Elegant Edges, sized at about 4 inches wide. Birthday sentiment is cut from yellow cardstock, sized to fit over blue frame. Apply 2 coats of Glossy Accents to sentiment, allowing each coat to dry well.
Monogram letters for child's name: Ovals cut from aqua are 1 inch. Letters cut from yellow gingham are 0.85h approximately.
